If he has 9 he knows about, gotta figure there's another 4-5 out there he doesn't. He's like the Phillip Rivers of CEO's. Although he's got a long way to go to be in Calvin Murphy territory.

Elon Musk’s deal to buy Twitter is in serious jeopardy, three people familiar with the matter say, as Musk’s camp concluded that Twitter’s figures on spam accounts are not verifiable.

Musk’s team has stopped engaging in certain discussions around funding for the $44 billion deal, including with a party named as a likely backer, one of the people said. The people spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the ongoing discussions.

Talks with investors have cooled in recent weeks as Musk’s camp has raised doubts about the recent data “fire hose” — a trove of data sold to corporate customers — they received from Twitter. Musk’s team’s doubts about the spam figures signal they believe they do not have enough information to evaluate Twitter’s prospects as a business, the people said.

We continue to maneuver to this all ending in a Delaware court deciding what Musk has to pay Twitter.

looking back, this entire thing was pretty dumb by Musk right from the get go.

Made no sense then, hasn't up to now. Must be nice to throw away multiple billions that otherwise could have gone to much, much, much, much muuuuuch better deployment for society writ large.

He honestly looks like an idiot now.

Musk isn't this crazy genius everyone makes him out to be. I've disliked him for years. He's an ego maniac who treats people like garbage while acting like he's trying to help humanity.

Smart guy no doubt, but I can't stand him, and I hope this costs him.

I guess he doesn't value free speech as much as he said.

Would they really want to shut those accounts down though? They drive traffic and views if users are engaging and arguing with the bots or about stuff that the bots are posting.

Was always a ploy to sell TSLA shares near the top.

No, I believe there is a break up fee that is quite steep; in the low billions.

Edit: 1-billion, https://www.marketplace.org/2022/06/...quisition/amp/

I find it hard to believe anyone would have a child fathered by the world’s richest man and keep it a secret from him.

So if the share price drops 50% on Monday morning, does he buy it anyway?

In which capacity are you asking?

The market price doesnt really matter since he has an agreed upon share price for the purchase.

If the market price drops he'd be even more inclined to take the penalty rather than commit to the purchase.
