Id take DeBrusk just so his Dad becomes a Flames Homer. Louie would die inside, but he would do it.

My prediction thread post had a trade of Hanifin+Mangipane for DeBrusk+Carlo
I do wonder how the Mangipane negotiations go this summer and if there is a chance he is moved? He got squeezed last summer and I believe his agent was even searching for offer sheets.

We will find out if OEL will be a Canuck this week.
asked to expand his list of teams but said no.
Arizona asked for Demko JB said no.
the Canucks have allll the leverage in this potential trade.

Ah yes, correct you are. I thought he came over the year before last, but he just signed a contract but didn't play any games. So, yeah it seems weird that they're looking to move one of their goalies now.

apparently Boston's interest has gone down.
the Canucks are the more willing trade partner to get it done.
also any fears of a cap hell was answered JB in the presser.

Arizona could use Vancouver's offer to leverage offers from other teams not on OEL's ntc. They might generate more interest if other teams see the price is significantly lower than they might expect.

There have been mixed signals on exactly what OEL has in regards to a movement clause. I've seen limited NTC, full NTC and full NMC all mentioned.
If it's a Limited NTC, I am shocked they're having a hard time finding takers at this stage.

A question that someone can hopefully answer. When does a contract expire? Is it after the final game of the Stanley Cup? Is there a specific date? The answer to this will determine the answer to possible tampering or collusion. I suspect that the contracts do not go to the end of June otherwise it would virtually be impossible to have a UFA contract negotiated and accepted on July 1st when the free agency window opens. Negotiations take time, so there must be a window where the clubs can talk to the agents without it being considered tampering.

The day of free agency, IIRC

I think tampering rules in the NHL are just a joke. In theory, you cannot talk to, contact or have someone else reach out to a player under contract. In practice, Brian Burke flew to Sweden to talk to the Sedins.
As long as you don't say anything out loud, I don't think tampering rules will ever be enforced.

Hard to imagine a G being moved for fair value until the UFAs start to shake out.
MAF for Reimer (1x 3.4)
Murray + LD (PIT has three making $4-5M) for RD+ from Buffalo.
I think BUF is pretty high on both Ullmark and 21 yo Luukkonen, so they would probably prefer a short term vet to elevate the position for a couple years.
Rask (no trade protection) for one of BUF's goalies could make some sense for BOS to shed cap. Boston's goalie future is a big question mark moving forward either way...they'd probably prefer Ullmark (RFA arb eligible), but Hutton (1x2.75) might come in cheaper if they want to hope for the best with Halak.
Rask for Mrazek?

The Canucks were fined $50,000 for tampering back in 2016 when Benning mentioned publicly that they would be interested in signing Stamkos and Lucic.
In 2009, the Leafs were fined when Wilson said they would love to get the Sedins in Toronto. The Canucks also wanted another tampering charge against the Leafs when Burke specified certain Canuck players that were being shopped around (Burke was a GM at the time, and not an analyst). The NHL declined to fine them for that one.
But yeah, considering how often you hear about these things, the frequency of fines, and the dollar amount itself, are not big deterrents.
I think if you nix everything that can be considered tampering, you would pretty much very few rumours, as most rumours tend to be leaks from management to the media. And rumours are a good source of press to keep fans interested.

In a normal season, it's June 30. As part of the MOU for the return to play, all contracts were extended until the day before free agency opens. With free agency opening on October 9, contracts for 2019-20 will remain in force until the end of the day on October 8.

The Gillis-in-Vancouver Burke-And-Nonis-in-Toronto fued was amazing. They absolutely hated one another, and still do.

I can't prove this, but I think most rumors come from the following (in order)
1. Agents to media
2. Players to ex-players
3. Team management to media
