Vancouver wins, which means that we play the winner of the St Louis/ Dallas game tomorrow. The loser plays Vancouver.

Do the seeding games have OT?
No ties?

And to be clear, it doesn’t matter what kind of win or loss in the STL/ Dallas game, we play whoever wins.

This is an interesting situation, where one of those teams could choose to throw the game to select their matchup.

I don't think they will. But they could.

Don't really care who we play.

They are going to have a tough opponent either way.

Definitely Dallas. If this team one an additional round the morale around the locker room would be sky high.

But, it doesn't really matter if it's St. Louis either. If it's them we will prepare for them. It would be great to beat the cup champs.

I think we play the Blues better and Chucky will be extra ignite vs his home town team.

I prefer Dallas.

And I think St. Louis doesn't prefer to play the Flames for one main reason... and that reason starts with a M and ends with a K.

I think both these teams are prime to be taken out in the next round but clearly for me Dallas is the easier opponent.

It feels like Dallas has given the Flames fits over the last few years.

I was so busy before the covid shut down, I wasn't able to watch much hockey. I had no clue Vancouver finished ahead of us in the standings.

Either match up is better than facing either one of the avs/knights, so this is great.

Though the flames play better vs the blues, I think the blues are a much more formidable opponent when it comes to playoff hockey.

If the flames keep up the heavy/physical play into round 1, I think it could be more effective vs the stars than the blues.

I am not going to vote because I think thats bad luck. That being said, aren't both Bishop and Khudobin the Flames kryptonite?

I have a feeling we will play the Blues. They were our matchup at the end of the season anyway being number 1 in the West and the Flames being the second wildcard.

I think Dallas has higher top-end talent with Seguin, Benn, Pavelski, Heiskanen, and Klingberg. Plus they've got gritty guys like Perry, Radulov etc...
That being said, I think the Blues may be the tougher opponent, as they've proven they know what it takes to win, whereas Dallas has been kind of stuck in limbo for a few years.

Either way, both opponents are going to be an incredible challenge.

This is incorrect. The pre covid playoff setup was division based. At the pause, using strictly points (acknowledging that teams had unequal games played), the Flames were third in their division and would play second, which at that time were the Oilers.

Blues as the higher point gaining division leader would draw the second wildcard, which was either the Preds or Canucks at 78 pts.

It's all moot though with the bubble qualifier and playoff formats being changed from the 'regular' division playoff format to utilizing adjusted points based on games played to account for the unequal games played between teams at the pause.
