Hospitals and doctors around the country are facing harassment and even death threats over the medical care they offer to transgender kids. In many cases, they have been the subject of posts by a Twitter account called Libs of TikTok, as well as stories in conservative media outlets casting gender-affirming care as child abuse and mutilation.
Apparently, similar threats were made to Boston Children's Hospital yesterday.
Stumbled across this which is apparently happening lately in the US.

Interesting take by Doel. Some really good commentary on the actions of far-right commentators and the link to stochastic terrorism. I will say I disagree with him when he talks about intent of these bomb-throwers on social media. Doel claims they don't incite, they only provide targets of outrage, rather than direct action. I disagree. What they do is incitement and the framing of their message is a direction for action. If your target audience is a room full of low-IQ gun carrying idiots, you have a pretty good idea what the outcome of your incitement campaign is going to be. There is intent. Words have meaning and have power to move people. I've always said that part of freedom of speech is accepting the responsibility for the outcomes of your words. If you incite a riot, you should be held accountable. If you incite someone to violence and murder, you should be an accessory after the fact. These calls to action are calls for violence, because of the type of listener that follows these outlets. It's time to start attaching some level of accountability to the first amendment.
Yeah the weirdo from Libs of TikTok posted a "smoking gun" video yesterday where they called one of the hospitals to try and set up a "hysterectomy for my 16 year old" and a receptionist transferred them to a different department.
U.S. officials order Nvidia to halt sales of top AI chips to China
Quote:
Chip designer Nvidia Corp (NVDA.O) said on Wednesday that U.S. officials told it to stop exporting two top computing chips for artificial intelligence work to China, a move that could cripple Chinese firms' ability to carry out advanced work like image recognition and hamper Nvidia's business in the country.
The announcement signals a major escalation of the U.S. crackdown on China's technological capabilities as tensions bubble over the fate of Taiwan
While I think the electoral map thingie posted doesn't look right, I'm going to remind everyone that the GOP don't need to gerrymander to be competitive.
If US elections would move to a more sane electoral system, what would happen is not permanent Democratic rule, but instead the GOP would instantly change their policies to be competitive in a new environment. There's a reason why in a two party system the parties tend to stay about 50/50; whenever the world changes, the parties change with them.
In other words, the point of gerrymandering isn't just to keep the GOP in power, it's just as much about protecting the current politics of the GOP and making it as immune as possible from democratic influence.
