The one thing that he has had trouble with in the past though is managing the cap, which TBH comes with having a contender, but he didn't navigate that very well in Boston. Will see how he does with his second opportunity here in Edmonton.

Yeah, i'd do that trade over and over.

Yeah, I don't see a spectacular difference.

I do. The Oilers choked away a 2-0 lead heading home. There is losing... and then there is collapsing.

Its the same reason we get infested by Rider fans when they're doing well.
More people move from Edmonton to Calgary than the other way around because we're better. The cities that have homogenous sports affiliations are dumpsvilles like Edmonton and Cleveland.
Also, the Oilers are easily the more popular team in Alberta, that battle seems to have been lost in the 80s. As much as we make fun of their 5 cups it makes a difference to winning hearts and minds having those plus Gretzky in your history. The Oilers own the Province from basically Red Deer-north, and even southern cities like Med Hat and Lethbridge are pretty evenly split. Those people all move here for work too, my Oiler buddies are all from Red Deer and Grande Prairie.

Agree .... and to tell you the truth I do not consider Edmonton and region part of the real Alberta , I think they have more in common with Sakatchewan and the rest of the prairies than they do with Calgary , not saying there is anything wrong with that fact but it's just the way it is ... different people with a different history .... I feel absolutely no conection to those other places other than the transplants that live in my neighbourhood , not good or bad ... Let them cheer for whoever they want .... It's not their home , its just where they live ...

Oiler fans, through the years
2006–07: "We literally just won 5 Cups."
2007–08: "We literally just won 5 Cups."
2008–09: "We literally just won 5 Cups."
2009–10: "We literally just won 5 Cups."
2010–11: "We literally just won 5 Cups."
2011–12: "We literally just won 5 Cups."
2012–13: "We literally just won 5 Cups."
2013–14: "We literally just won 5 Cups."
2014–15: "We literally just won 5 Cups."
2015–16: "We literally just won 5 Cups."
2016–17: "We literally almost won 5 more Cups, after we literally just finished winning 5 Cups. The best part is how we literally built our team through the draft instead of signing a bunch expensive UFAs and buying our Cups like everyone else does. Oh that reminds me, how amazing is our Captain!? How good are we at picking Captains, because literally the only other Captains we've ever had are 1st and 2nd all-time in points, and our new Captain is literally a season away from being 3rd on that list. Man, it feels really good to literally continue being a dynasty. It's really easy to understand why everyone loves us."

It was Pinder doing the speculating. Friedman basically said offer sheets aren't really a thing and doubts it would happen.

That's not how I heard it. I think Pinder was talking about his rights being available in the expansion draft to which Friedman shot down.

The worst collapse in NHL playoff history.
Give up a 3 goal lead in the last 3 minutes when you were about to take a 3-1 series lead.

lol.... the equivalent hyperbole of this statement would be a flames fan suggesting that not only "was it in" but that made a hole in the twine.
anyhoo, hahahaha. that game still makes me smile. But alas.... "let's go....", rite?

So what you're saying is.....spankings are an effective method of altering behaviour and as such you are not only a proponent but actually an advocate for Child Abuse.
Stay Classy Edmonton....

I don't know why we are bringing this up, the Flames did the exact same thing in game 3 vs the ducks. Its the one thing I can't gloat about to my Oiler Friends since we blew the lead and the series with that game.

We gave up a 3 goal lead with 3 minutes left in the game?
