Your reasoning?
This is a team on the verge of big changes with no one off the table to make them happen. Who's to say Buffalo doesn't covet pieces we have here if we put together a hefty package.

He doesn’t get to choose where he wants to play.

oddsmakers consider Calgary one of the favorites for Eichel so I wouldn't just dismiss it like we are just being fanboys

About 3 players for Buffalo seem to be looking for a change of scenery and have the potential to have some bounce back! Both teams should negotiate with the intention of helping each other. Hard enough to get ahead in a 30 team league.

… after which the post-surgery Eichel never breaks 60 points again, Reinhart walks out on the team because his whole family hates the organization, the Flames win the 2021 draft lottery, and Buffalo goes on to win multiple Stanley Cups with an actual franchise player.
I like it.

This Eichel obsession reminds me of all the insanity over Hall lol. Crazy talk with no basis in reality or common sense.

The biggest win this off-season would be to find a way to dump salary. If they can do that without dumping a first, great. If they throw this upcoming season, great too - great picks coming.

Tkachuk, Zary, 1st for Eichel
Monahan, Poirier (or similar level of prospect) for Laine
Gaudreau - Eichel - Laine
Dube - Lindholm - Mangiapane
Peltier - Backlund - Lucic
4th line

Lol I was just pitching ways to get both and my route is similar. I think it could happen. I'd go for reinhart too.

Common sense dictates that the Flames absolutely should go for Jack Eichel. But a lot of the trade proposals I'm seeing doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I think a lot of posters here are forgetting about why this team needs Jack Eichel though.
The Flames at this very moment need additional scoring punch IMO. I don't think the Flames need Jack Eichel just to have Jack Eichel or in other words, we don't need a true #1 center just so we can say we have a true #1 center. Annihilating important depth on this team and creating holes all over the roster so we can acquire an injury prone #1 center seems counter productive to becoming an elite team.

Laine would be a great rh shot. That would be a strong top line.

Burns 4x8M (AAV>>>$$$) and M Jones 3x5.75 (AAV>$$$)
for
Bobrovsky (5x10M) + Stralman (1x5.5M)
Both Sharks have a 3 team trade clause. Bob has a full NMC and probably not keen to pay extra taxes, but who knows?
Weegar-Ekblad
Forsling-Burns
Nutivara-Gudas
Yandle
Something around Yandle for Vlasic would also be interesting, but SJ would have to sweeten since it's a much uglier contract. I'm mildly surprised that Vlasic is 6 months younger. He'd be a better fit for FLA on the 2nd or 3rd pair.
SJ definitely doesn't need a Yandle (could barely even use him on PP), but they'd free up cap space much sooner.

Who would you trade to acquire Reinhart?

Add Backlund to the Tkachuk eichel trade.
Backs-tkachuk-zary-1st = eichel+ reinhart

Backlund had some form of trade protection, I believe. Can imagine a scenario where Buffalo isn't on that list.

Initially I was thinking they might want a young defenseman. I just was not sure it would be enough.

Backlund is worth more to us than we could possibly get in a trade. He's a fantastic 3rd line centre.

Nah, but imo it breaks down like so:
Tkachuk+zary= eichel
Zary is worth slightly more than a 1st. He had a great d+1. Eichels injury makes him uncertain. Tkachuk is far and away the best chance at a franchise piece on the table for him.
Backlund+1st+3rd 2021 = reinhart
Backlund is cost controlled and proven to work well next to Tkachuk. That's a line. Imo this part of the trade is actually in favor of Buffalo because Backlund contract is certain and reinhart is pending Ufa. We have an extra 3rd.
Then try monahan+valimaki for laine...
