Brutal stuff

Speaking of bad movies, The Happytime Murders was unspeakably bad. I lasted maybe 20 minutes.
I enjoyed Vice. I loved the mid movie end credits joke.
The Loudest Voice on HBO with Russell Crowe is dark. They portray him as quite the monster. It’s a tv show but whatever.
Funny, Naomi Watts plays an unnamed Fox reporter in Vice and she’s Gretchen Carlson in Loudest Voice.
Can You Ever Forgive Me? was ok. Melissa McCarthy was good.

Has anyone here used a movie tracking app? I think the box office stock apps have been discussed before.
I started using Letterboxd and have so far logged over 2k movies I’ve seen. It’s been fun to kill some time scrolling through genres/decades and stumbling on movies I forgot existed.
I’ve seen a lot of crap though. My list isn’t exactly filled with four star indie classics.

Just watched The Art of Racing in the Rain with the family.
Very good watch, and very well done. I thought the casting was perfect too.
I didn't bawl like i thought i would, but there definitely were some sad parts. Also many funny and uplifting parts too. I laughed and smiled and cried all the same.
It mirrored much of the book, however they took some creative liberties to make it more family friendly. I don't think it took away from the movie though.
The inevitable end, was done almost exactly like the book, and created more smiles and tears than ugly cries.

Man on Fire is on the Game(?) channel right now, man I love that movie. Any Denzel in an ass kicking roll is awesome! (Watched Equalizer 2 last night, also recommended)

Saw Apocalypse Now: The Final Cut tonight... shorter than Redux, and so amazing to see it on a big screen. There’s screenings at Chinook, West Hills, and Country Hills more times this month. Everybody should take the chance and go see it

This was screening in Vancouver recently and I somehow missed it. Would you say this is the best version? I'm a huge fan of Redux and was honestly a bit skeptical when I first heard that Coppola was working on another version. I just didn't think he'd be able to top what he'd already done.
I'm definitely curious to watch it though and will likely buy the bluray when it comes out, because I'm a sucker. I own 3 versions of Blade Runner, so I might as well do the same with Apocalypse Now.

I think this is certainly the most streamlined version. I believe I read that it is about 14 minutes shorter than Redux. It is a full 4k restoration though so it looks and sounds incredible in theatre.

^ Looked awesome but it seemed like it could be one of those movies where all the good jokes are in the trailer. Glad to hear you enjoyed

There are no slow parts in the movie. It was extremely funny from start to finish. I highly recommend it.

I just saw what I imagine others would describe as a movie, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. I can't begin to describe how disappointing this movie was, and how much of a waste of time I believe it to be.
To say this was self-indulgent tripe would be selling this movie too high. We got it, you are famous and know lots of famous people. Thanks for making this movie /masturbatory escapade celebrating that you're Quentin Tarintino.
I'm not even going to Google if I got his name spelled right.

Isn’t every Tarantino movie self indulgent?

I enjoyed the hell out of Once Upon a Time... Easily one of the most entertaining movies I've watched this year. Tarantino at his best. Pitt and Leo were both outstanding, and I was enthralled throughout the entire running time.

I watched it tonight and thought it was weird also. The ending was a bit effed up but I can't say I wasn't surprised. My only complaint would be that it was too long.
My good friend owns the movie theatre here in High River and has had on average of 2-3 people walk out of the movie each night, Comments ranged from it made no sense to being too violent.
