Plain and simple here is the best definition and example of how to describe wealth/ The 1980's era movie Wall Street.
“I’m not talking about some $400,000-a-year working Wall Street stiff,” Gekko affirms. “I’m talking about liquid, rich enough to have your own jet. Rich enough not to waste time. Fifty, a hundred million dollars, Buddy. A player—or nothing.”
To quote the great Chris Rock:
"Im not talkin' rich. I'm talkin' about wealthy. What's the difference? Shaq is rich. The person that signs Shaq's paycheque is wealthy."

I don't think it's fair to reveal his identity, as a lot of people know who I am, and could piece it together if I put in any specific details, but he's rumored to be worth about 200 mil, and is the nicest, most down to earth and charitable guy I know. A genuine shirt off his back kinda guy that fought and clawed his way to the top.
He looks after his kids well, but not in the I have hundreds of millions of dollars way well. They have to earn it like anyone else, hold onto a 9-5 job and he's more than open to investing in their futures, but you better have a rock solid business plan, know what you are doing and be prepared to be accountable if things go south.
The one thing I will say, I owe the guy a lot, and he's the type that it has nothing to do with who you know, how you look, or how far you'll bury your nose up the bosses ass. He's 100% about, how hard are you willing to work, and what's the result? And he'll never get offended if you disagree with him. He's always looking for a way to improve, even if it's not his idea.
I know someone exactly like this who is worth 9 figures - you'd never know it. Nicest guy I know. Would not hesitate to give you his last $5 if he thought you had a good plan for it.
I also interact daily with a family mentioned in this thread that is worth 10 figures. Kind of wild to think about.
I have a friend. No idea what his worth is. They retired mid-40's. Massive home in westbragg, home in Cranbrook, home in Costa Rica on the ocean. 3 homes they just in Whitefish. 2 on the lake, the other at the top of ironwoods. They just sold those three because of covid and because it's shifted to Texans coming to town who don't like Canadians. They take a month a year to cat-ski.
I'm also related by marriage to a guy who is no longer local but when he was, he held private concerts in his basement. I got to see Gord Downie down there. One of the most surreal experiences of my life. He had a car elevator that took his porsches down to his mancave in that basement. I don't know if he ever did this, but he could park 3 of the cars down there and make his own personal drive in movie.
I used to work with the founder of a company here in Calgary worth somewhere between $500M-$1B or so according to those "Top 25 richest people in Canada lists". Their lakeside place in the BC interior makes 1st line NHL'ers drool in terms of it's ridonkculous size.
I'd say the key to this was their ability to hire and surround themselves with good people that made unbelievably good decisions on their behalf. Unfortunately, they strayed from this in the latter years and are worth considerably less now because of this. Still in the 000's of millions but much less.
They've gone on to various philanthropic endeavors around town which is nice to see.

I just wanted to say I edited my post. It was wrong to drop names like that, and I know better than to post after a few spiced rum and egg noggs. My apologies everyone.

At 10:56am? You might need to cut back on the drinking.

Nah I don’t think so. Was the first day of Christmas vacation, I was ‘socializing’ with family back East. My mistake was posting what I posted, and I apologized.

For those wondering I think it *used* to be post #17... which is now simplified. Good recall/adjustment. We all do stuff like that. Rum not required.

Is this a new development there? Why do the Texans hate Canadians?

I have a sister who lives in Houston and is married to a guy from West Texas, so I've travelled fairly extensively around the state. I've never met anyone that was anti-Canadian, and I've never heard rumor of anti-Canadian vibes. That's a really strange comment.
