Foligno normally would never get a 1st and 4th but in a bad draft year I see why Toronto did it. He could be put in for scrums in the corners in a pk or grind it out situation so it really isn’t bad as they’re going all in. Now, I really hope the Flames are dangling some of their lesser players because even in a widely agreed “bad” draft year they may still pick up a flyer with a high pick if many teams see this years draft as expendable.

Ryan has 6 points and 3 career playoff points...don't set yourself up for disappointment

Where does Ryan rank on the deadline lists?

I’m not setting myself up for anything - I just think he’s underrated. And his 6 points are in half the games of Foligno’s 12. His PO points are a result of bench shortening, no poorer play and the fact he’s been in the POs only two years. He may not be grabbed but teams are missing an opportunity.

Flames fans may have been in sell mode for weeks. Flames management I bet hasn’t been. Cap is tight too. Teams may be waiting but as the deadline gets closer teams will be more willing to pull the trigger

If Ryan gets traded I wouldn’t be shocked he got us a 2nd. 3rd is worst I’m expecting at this point

Looking ahead here, but there’s a very good chance Nick Foligno will re-sign with #CBJ this summer as an unrestricted free agent.
I can see Getzlaf going to Vegas and re-signing in Anaheim in the summer.

Would love for Ryan to get moved for a pick and re-sign in Calgary at a lower number.

Just saw his comments, he's not wrong in saying TO needs this type of player. And yeah looks like he took a nasty punch in the eye.

Huge missed opportunity. Should have simply tweeted, "I fell".

Ryan already cleared waivers this season, twice. I don't think he's worth a 2nd.

Waivers - 100% of salary
Trade - 50%, plus less actual dollars the further along in the season.

Ryan at 1.7M is a pretty good deal.

Derek Ryan is small and soft. He is not a guy a playoff team is looking for as a final piece.

On a contender he is a good healthy scratch to have on hand, if cheap.

I like the guy, but he is not moving the needle for anyone contending.

I could see some of the lower ranked playoff teams doing a future considerations kind of deal for some of our UFAs, but that is about it.

I threw out my back two years ago playing Pickleball, ended up with a severely herniated disc and sciatica. It’s a tough sport! My friends and coworkers haven’t and will never let me live it down!

Comparing Foligno to Ryan and Bennett is ridiculous.

Which stats? How close to 1000 games and 500 points? 30 point seasons? 30
Goal seasons? Playoff wins? Number of games as a captain? Playoff series wins as a captain?

Different players at different points in their career. What Toronto would acquire foligno for Sam Bennett can’t bring. Maybe a decade from now he will, but it’s not there today.

LOL. Who cares about what he was. Toronto isn’t trading for mid 20s Foligno 7 years ago. They are renting 33 year old him now. And right now, they are awfully similar players. Or should they also sign UFA Wayne Gretzky? He has good career stats.

The game is about a lot more than stats. Foligno is really tough to play against. And not just in the hitting department. He can line up against top lines and be reliable positionally without the puck. He can dominate along the boards and in corners. That’s simply not true of Bennett.

Better return for Foligno than Hall? Interesting...
