Well, the problem was that Friedman reported something that was verified by a player's agent, then the fans of that player #### their pants and have done everything in their power to discredit Friedman since. Is it surprising to know those folks sport an avatar of the player in question?

Yes. It's the spotlight in general, whether it be from fans or the media.

I'd take anything Friedman reports on the Flames here on out with a massive grain of salt as I'm sure the organization has clamped down on sharing information with outsiders and Elliotte in particular. They won't want more Bennett situations this season even though I am sure he will try to manufacture something.
Really annoying that the team was playing at least competitive hockey before the muzzin and Bennett incidents happened in short succession.

Friedman drives me bonkers when he tries to be cerebral and over analyzes things. His interview question are just bizarre sometimes.
I think he relies a lot on his intuition, which isn't a bad thing as long as you take it with a grain of salt. But when he says things that are really specific (like the player's only meeting details), I would think that he must have a legitimate source because it would kill his credibility.

I did not notice. I was one of the suckers who stuck around to watch the entire game.
There also wasn't talk of this incident after the game or in the game thread.

I’m pro Bennett and pro Friedman. It’s not like haters also haven’t transformed his agent saying he’s open to a change into Bennett demanding a trade...shocking as it may be, there is actually some nuance here (and in most of what quality reporters say)

Nice to see the Flames being called out in the national sports media , maybe something will happen finally. Usually Flames get a garbage coach play like crap and the national media doesnt care. This year the team looks Oilers bad thats inexcusable.

I wish the media would focus on the coaching/system failures more than a potential gutting of the roster because that is absolutely where we have to start.
Make sure this isn't a poor coaching issue by getting a seasoned vet with a winning track record (in the NHL) in there first before making big player changes.
The last three guys either had player relation issues or were unproven at this level.
Hartley was the last vet bench boss and he did get the best results from these players well before their primes.
If the media wants to help, that's where they should put their focus.

If Treliviing truly believes there is untapped potential in this roster then getting a coach would be his way to prove people wrong.
To borrow a term from Feaster, behind closed doors he must have the intellectual honesty to realize that the current guy/staff don't have the chops to get this horse up to a gallop.

I'd rather listen to my wife nag me about all the #### I need to do around the house on my first Saturday off in a month, than listen to Francis.

Friedman is my favourite when it comes to hockey related news. In fact he's one of the few that I trust.

Gotta be tough being a guy going on Calgary radio 2x per week to get asked by Calgary media what he’s hearing about Calgary cause the local guys can’t or won’t. There’s only so much to talk about before the discussion goes to possibilities and hypotheticals.
The only time the locals flex their connections is when crazy stuff comes up and Boomer nails down Conroy or Treliving to put out the fire (ie. DeAngelo)

I really like Elliotte Friedman and think he is one of the better reporters out there.

I like Friedman. He does stir the pot at times, but he is one of the more reputable insiders, as well as reporters out there.
There is a void though in that role in the league, especially with Bob McKenzie taking a step back and moving to part-time. Dreger has a few contacts, but seems to make up a decent bit. I am fine with LeBrun.

I have no issues with Friedman. If the team didn't suck they wouldn't have all these stories about them. It's the team's own fault.
