Also Shane Wright did an interview on Tim and Friends yesterday. Kid is everything Connor is not. Personable, RHS and everything he does is modeled after Sid.

Another thought: A lot of hockey players are golfers (the Flames are going to get a lot more golf in this year). Do most of them also golf left-handed?
Just my 2 cents, but I think playmaking is easier with more control on the top of the stick, and power comes from lower.

Best goal scorers and one timers are right handed. Best passers and wrist shots are lefties.

I also think right handed is dying out because the more left handed shooters/sticks equals more kids grabbing a left stick for their first time.

Same reason why the average in the world of left golfers is around 5% and in Canada is 20%.

Again this is just my own personal thoughts.

Good puck handling is actually controlled by the movement of the hand on the butt of the stick, the lower hand serves primarily as a stabilizer for the actions of the right hand. Since the dominant hand develops more dexterity and fine motor control, most of the time those holding the stick with the dominant hand at the top exhibit more high end control. I am sure there are many exceptions, but this thinking drives much of this phenomenon, plus experience tells me kids initially grab the top of the stick with their dominant hand and that comfort starts the process.

I'm a lefty who throws and shoots right handed. But I can also play hockey left handed too. But I prefer right, I have better control over my shot.

I’m more curious why RHS is becoming less common. What changed?

No idea but it's like 75-25 in my kids minor hockey association.

If you kick left footed , we might be twins.

When I grew up RH writing or throwing = RHS. By the time my brother came up it was changing. I like my right on the bottom - I feel like that’s where the control and the power comes from for everything except maybe a slapper. But then again, maybe I was doing it wrong because I wasn’t very good.

When I was playing (too many years ago) it was at least 50/50, and same for batting in baseball.

I'm a lefty but I shoot right in hockey, lacrosse and golf. Throw with my left and catch with my right in baseball. When I played soccer I could hit off both feet but I preferred my right.

Not sure if that's common for lefties. I always thought it was normal but some of my cousins do everything left handed.

Sorry to get away form the LS RS chat, but this thread is just a tease, Flames will not sell at the deadline, will pick around 7-10, and then will maybe retool a bit in the summer. then at best be a bubble team in a few years, rinse repeat.

Hope Im wrong, just par for this Ownership and Management.

I doubt we see a full on fire sale but I'm pretty sure at least a few core members are moved.

This thread is the Calgary Flames. In a year when the team is just playing like junk and you don't have much to look forward to when it comes to their play, you think at least we'll get a good pick this year. You let yourself get a little optimistic and see what all the hype is about in the draft thread and you start a deep dive into the finding out you might have sleep apnea.

There definitely won't be a fire-sale, but I would expect the Flames to do some selling at the trade deadline if they haven't improved their position in the standings by then. I doubt we will see a core player being shipped out (but who knows?), but I would expect anyone on an expiring contract will be offered around the league.

I don’t think the ‘21 draft is as bad as some are making it out to be.

Later rounds? Absolutely, get a crap ton of darts to throw in those rounds.

A top 10 pick, in which we’re projected to pick, will likely give us a potential top pairing D, homegrown.

I'm not sold on Aatu Raty, but I think I want the Flames to draft him regardless.

We only have Ryan worth trading that is a pending UFA. Leivo has virtually no value. I think we keep Bennett so that Seattle picks him. Rather lose him than someone like Mangiapane

If we retained 50% of Ryan's contract, I'd love to get a 3rd and a 5th for him

Hopefully we clean house and trade the core (Mony and Johnny) in the off season

Ryan is exactly what other teams are looking for... a 34 year old 4th liner from a lottery pick team who has no positive playoff history.

let the bidding commence
