What dirty contact? He had him lined up and Scheifele turned out of the hit and Tkachuk also went it the boards. If scheifele didn't turn, he would have just been rubbed out or just hit. To lay any blame on Tkachuk is feeding into the stupid narrative Maurice is spewing.

Strange how Scheifele was grabbing the front of his knee. But I suppose we'll have to await the results of a forensic investigation.

Thankfully it's now a moot point, but can anyone explain why Ryan was waived out of the faceoff before the Jets goal? The other linesman blew it...nobody lined up had any idea why. Were the Flames too slow/late bringing out their guys? Or because of how they were lined up?

Tiny thing, but lead to a goal within seconds...it seems the officials are calling everything to the letter of the law so far.

When will we find out if there is any discipline for Tkachuk?

No hearing is scheduled by the NHL, that would have been announced already with a game coming up tomorrow.

Why would there be any kind of hearing?

If there should be a hearing based around Maurice logic, then Eakins should be expecting a phone call.

Last night when no penalty was called?

Doesn’t matter what Maurice says to motivate his sad sack team. There was nothing remotely wrong with the play.

If you don’t want to get hit, play golf.

I think the linesman pointed at the far side, so maybe the winger was over the hashmark. I would have to look at it again, but yeah Doc being tossed definitely started that chain of events.

Wow this post is amazingly sneaky and well done.

He manages to accuse Tkatchuk of doing this intentional in the most passive aggressive way possible.

While I admire the effort, the whole kicked and sliced thing reduces this post to garbage.

Do the Flames bring in Rinaldo?

Who do the Jets have in their roster that can take down Tkachuk, let alone guys like Lucic or Bennett? Do the Flames even need to bring Rinaldo in?

I just don't see this as a strategy the Jets can outplay the Flames at.

At least with the Kassian play, it was physical hockey. You could argue a charge, or targeting or whatever.

With this, there's absolutely nothing there. He hardly touched him. 30 % almost dangerous contact? What the hell does that even mean? Sheifele went into the boards under his own momentum. He turned at the last second so there was no ice left to stop on. That's more on Sheifele than anything.

I totally understand Maurice trying to create a distraction and rally the troops, but his quote in the PC was hilarious hyperbole with zero nuance, unless he really us that pissed in which case he should check his glasses prescription.

I guess I can even understand the media trying to drum up a storyline. But jeeze louise, I'm sure Tkachuk is going to be walking the line this whole series, I don't know how anyone can watch that play and see anything other than an unfortunate injury.

Also, on the Laine injury, did it look like he was apologizing to Gio right before Gio whacked his forearm ? I thought that was hilarious.

Only if the super secret camera angle Maurice is talking about confirms Tkachuk took his skate off and is shown repeated sliced and dicing Scheifele

Don't have the tweet handy, but Pike said no discipline

No need to bring Rinaldo in, he's already in the starting lineup.

Speaking of Rinaldo.. he was kind of quiet last night. I was expecting a few more big hits.

At least Chucky "answered the bell" (even though it wasn't intentional or dirty) so we don't have to hear the media all talking about how he needs to "pay the price" if he's going to "run" players.

It was unfortunate for the Jets who have had bad luck this year. However, the Flames can't look past them. They need to use this game to get in Hellebuycks head and keep him from stealing the series, which he is certainly capable of.

I don't blame Maurice for trying to distract the media with a BS attack on Tkachuk, it's part of the standard playoff playbook. Tkachuk is a master at these types of mind games, and we are very lucky to have him. He is our next captain.

The Gio-Laine sequence is totally bizarre (and I admit I LOL’ed). Laine with the completely unintentional elbow right to Gio’s face. Gio gets up like “WTF!!!” and Laine is understandably apologetic and likely afraid he just pissed off a Grizzly bear.

I was/am actually concerned Gio might have had a concussion because he was visibly stunned for at least 10 seconds but was able to finish his shift. I’m assuming there are still concussion spotters inside the bubble and hopefully he was able to shake it off.

Yep, the Jets are definitely going to come out hard next game; I wouldn't be surprised to see them amp up the physicality. It's not like they're a small team.
Whether they can sustain it is a whole other thing.

None by the league, but I hear that Edmonton Police arrested him last night and he’s facing 10-25 years in jail for attempted murder.

So, questionable for Game 2.

Yeah the Flames can not take them lightly. Their goalie will stand on his head and win at least one game this series. You can't let off at all, they need to keep it going.
