I give massive kudos to all of you guys who do long cycle commutes every day. Especially into the wind most of the way. I rode home from Inglewood tonight straight west (minus a whole pile of detours thanks to my craptastic intuition of where I should cut through the Stampede grounds) and just about died with that wind! I just checked and I cycled a pathetic 4.2km - how you guys do 20+ kms/day is beyond me. I now know how I had an amazing ride from Eau Claire to Inglewood at the end of work today, however.

I do. This year, I'm putting some serious K's on our pathway system with my eight-year-old daughter, so we're getting passed a lot. While an "on your left" is preferable to a stealth pass, a "ding" a couple seconds earlier is waaaay better.
Buy a damn bell for 5 bucks.

I prefer not to be startled by somebody cruising along the pathways. Especially bad is the guy who just announces themselves while they are passing.

That is where timing of the bell is key. A good 30 seconds before you pass shouldn't cause a startle. I also mute my bell and ding earlier when passing dog walkers, as not to cause the opposite reaction.

This post will be of huge interest to anyone who lives in the Deep South part of calagary.
This morning my riding buddy took me to some sweet single/double track in the Deep South. The trail starts on the west side of the bow south of Stoney. Simply ride the paved trail south and then look for the single track trail that veers off towards the river and just ride. This trail takes you behind the burnco facility, the water plant and eventually ends at heritage pointe. This trail is not on trail forks.
There is limited climbing, so it would be a great way to get a spouse that or child into trail riding.
I left my house in new Brighton, did this trail and then a little bit in fish creek for a little over 30k......strava glitched on my phone so I don't have an upload yet, but will ride this again.
It would make a great evening ride and you don't need to drive to the trailhead

Anyone have any insight to taking out spacers from my bike headset? I'd like to be a little less upright, so I was considering pulling a spacer and flipping the stem.
I'm nervous about pulling off the top cap and screwing up the compression on the bearing.

It's pretty easy to do. Make sure you put the spacers back on top of the stem if you aren't cutting the steer tube(which for testing, I would leave it), as the top nut compressing against the stem is important, even though the stem bolts keep it all tight. Watch a few youtube videos on how to tighten it up properly, but it isn't complicated.

Will the steerer tube protrude through the top or will you cut it down?

I don't think I would cut it down until I'd ridden with the adjustment for a few months, to be sure it's comfortable.

ALL ABOARD!

I switched the spacers on mine without any issues. I wouldn't cut the tube at all though. You'll have the option of switching it back down the road if you need to (possible injury?) or if you want to sell the bike later.

You may want to try something like this to help you dial in your riding position:

I put one on my winter rig to help me sort things out......I'm lazy, so I just left it on, although it's pretty heavy.

Hey, I seemed to loose pressure in my Shimano br-m525 front hydraulic brake. Just wondering if any cper has the tools and the time to help me refill and bleed it. I'm in Inglewood, but can pretty much meet anywhere. Thanks!

Nice, I like the blue accents. It's not just you, Google photos sucks for sharing this way. I usually use imgur.

thanks, you can't see it in the picture (because my bike lean is the wrong way as it should be drive side out), is the jockey wheels on the duerailler are also blue and so are the zip ties holding the shift cable on the down tube.
blue is my favourite color
