Well we're getting a new councillor here in Ward 11, so at least we have that. Magliocca might still survive!

I haven't spoken to anyone in my area that hasn't turned on him.

Some sort of coo coo world where an indisputably thieving liar still gets to ‘represent’ anyone.

Last I heard Justin Trudeau is still our PM so yes it is a coo coo world. Magliocca is a scammer but his transgressions pale compared to our provincial and federal leaders.

But something about ‘city councillor’ strikes me as a huge wtf. I mean, this isn’t some world politician halfway across the country representing millions, or some deeply seeded minister getting buried in the shuffle somewhere.
He literally lives down the street from these people and isa direct representative of this relatively small number of people. It’s like your neighbour stealing your Amazon parcel, lying to you about it, and you still cut his grass.

I wish someone would spill water on him TBH.

Lots of people in his ward love him. My aunt lives in his ward and she and her friends think he's the greatest thing ever. Farkas this, Farkas that. I change the subject quickly when talking to her. I'm not sure how far reaching his support outside of his ward but you can't underestimate a guy like that has conned many in his ward into thinking he's standing up for the little people.

Hard to run for Mayor, which in effect, is a role primarily focused on city-building, when you can't get along with anyone on Council and vote against every city building project during your first term.
How anyone could think a gleeful contrarian can be successful as Mayor is beyond me.

My parents and most of their friends are in Farkas’ ward and they love him. And these aren’t especially conservative people (I’m pretty sure my dad votes Liberal federally and mom NDP). Old people love city councillors who return their calls and act as advocates on their behalf against city administration. Farkas does that. He’s a shoe-in for re-election, and would likely give Nenshina run for his money if he ran for mayor.

Yup, everyone I've spoken here that live here and voted for Magliocca last time have turned on him. I'd be very surprised and disappointed in my ward if he wins next election.

If Calgary elects Farkas, they deserve what's coming to them - an uncollaborative, austerity-driven UCP sycophant that will make previous anemic councils pale in comparison.
I don't live there anymore, but there are already nine candidates (Nenshi being possibly among them) running for Mayor. People should stop and realize who is running and analyze them personally and the policies they will bring. Too much populism in our province at the moment.

What a jackass. lol Can't believe they haven't booted him off council yet.

Council has no such authority. Only the voters and the municipal affairs minister have that power.

Oh its going to get worse, there's blood in the water and the press for the various levels of government are digging hard. Those who think they've gotten away with it, are in for a shock I think.

With all the social media outrage, hopefully the outrage gets applied without political partisanship . . .
. . . I doubt it. lol.
EDIT: The fact that Nenshi knew beforehand and still signed off on it.

Administrative Assistants travelling isn’t worthy of news coverage. At all.

Sorry Nenshi you are OUT as mayor!
However you are totally suitable to be our Premier or Prime Minister!

Yeah, leaders and politicians should rightfully be criticized for hypocrisy.
An admin assistant presumably following the law and all other restrictions shouldn't have to be dragged into this in my opinion.
However, I'm hoping this is just Nenshi being transparent and that's that.
