so within 24 hours, Niantic have both completely eliminated the 3 steps in the new update and forced Pokevision to fold. That's so idiotic that it's almost impressive.

They need to fix tracking obviously, but having sites like pokevision was just stupid.
The game will get even better with tracking.

It's unplayable without tracking. They've killed the shelf life of the game with this.

Am I the only one that didn't use tracking at all? I just walked randomly and clicked on whatever popped up.
Glad pokevision is gone. Sites like that ruin the game.

Depends where you live. People on the outskirts used pokevision because there wasn't near the volume of spawns and pokestops compared to downtown. You going to walk 5km a night to catch the same 4-5 pokemon?

Unless they spawn more different pokemon in more places and more frequently the game is done. All that I can get without assistance of locators is pidgey and rattata. No fun in that.

If you want to change it up, come to Windsor park/elboya and catch ALL the drowzee you could dream of!

I find all of the complaining amusing.
I've never used any of the trackers, I just wander around and pick up what I see. It's just a fun way to make my usual dog walks/trips to the playground a little longer.
I do think it will negatively impact the people who drive around to 'find' the more exotic pokemons though.

I highly doubt the game is "done".
I don't really invest much time into this game but I thought having a website tell you where to go to get the Pokemon really defeated the purpose and the developers vision for the game.

Or the people who have to search 200 square blocks to find the 2 Rattatas and 3 Wheedles that are the only Pokemon within a 15 block radius. Now I can't find anything.

I said unless they spawn more pokemon in more places and more frequently it's done. That's the only way they will keep interest up.

The life of these games run on mathematical decay rates. Once you have an installed user base there is very little you can do to affect the decay rate in users. New content helps when the rate of users starts to drop faster but the actual game doesn't matter too much as the addicts are addicts and the people who would quit over something like this would have gotten board anyways and left in roughly the same time.
These companies know what they are doing in terms of maintaining the addiction.

I think yesterday killed it for me.
I got all excited to use a lure for the first time, so I popped it at the stop near my house. I 'lured' in three Pidgeys in the first ten minutes, then the servers crashed and I couldn't get back on. Also, they've inexplicably removed two of the Pokestops in my neighborhood -- so now there's only one.

Did tracking actually WORK for folks? Tracking has never worked for me, other than showing 1-3 pokemon that were likely around. I couldn't track them, as nothing ever changed. If tracking worked and they took it away, that'd be stupid. But it never worked anyhow. If they've taken it away to fix it, and bring it back working soon, I'd be all for that. And yes, I'm one of those guys who plays it who lives out in the 'sticks' of the NE. I have 5 pokestops within 2km of me, and would do 4-6km walks to hit them all...getting 3-6 drowzee's for my trouble.

Tracking used to work, the # of footsteps would change depending on how far away the Pokemon was (so you could figure out where it was), but that broke a while back so it always showed 3 footsteps. Now it shows nothing.

We live in an area where there are virtually no pokestops (1.5k to nearest). I did use pokevision to note where they spawn nearby. Doubt I would have felt the need to if there were stops around.
So we do use other Google map addons that show where stops are. We plan ahead for our day/evening pokewalk outing, visiting new areas with lots of stops.

Kinda happy pokevision is done. I played the game before it was officially out in Canada and the tracking actually worked. It was flawless and was so much fun tracking. Seeing a Pokemon you don't have go from 3rd on your list to 1st, to 2 claws, 1 claw, 0 claws, buzz there he is. That was so much fun. Hope they fix it very soon.
I have no clue why they removed the battery saver only from iOS. That's probably the most frustrating change out of them all.

yup. To me, it was a completely different game ... it's still great at the moment, but being able to hunt the Pokemon down by making the claws disappear made it a completely different experience. I really hope they fix this soon. If they do, then Pokevision is redundant anyway (at least in my opinion).
