Not what I said, but I see how my wording could be interpreted that way. I meant your feigned surprise. As objectification of these people disappears, so too will the idea that it comes with being a cheerleader.

That's one of those check time stamp on story to make sure it's 2018 and not 1978 moments.

Sask. NDP MP expelled from caucus. Again without any proof but because he spoke to the media...according to him.

Quote:
Earlier this week CBC reached out to Weir for comment on a story about details in the harassment report.

"Singh's office provided no guidance and, when CBC put out its story that afternoon, I felt compelled to respond to the complaint that had been made public, while being careful not to name the complainant," wrote Weir in a statement.

He said Singh's chief of staff asked him to stop commenting on the story, and he complied.

"Singh then notified Weir just before midnight on May 2 that he is being expelled from caucus, not because of the report's findings but because Weir commented publicly and Singh deemed that unacceptable," Weir's statement says.

Weir called the investigation "deeply flawed."

"Expulsion is a vastly harsher punishment than applied to many other New Democratic MPs who have, at times, commented publicly without the leader's explicit authorization."

Yikes....really?

What in the actual....

The treatment of the women is one thing, but theres so many other laws being broken here, how could they possibly get away with this?

Look at the franchise. They still have the most racist sports name in history and have no plans to change it.

Surprised no one's talked about Cosby's crazy wife. How can she STILL be defending him?

Okay, we're kind of addressing the sexual abuse side of this as opposed to the organizations racist name and their seemingly obvious disregard for anyone who cares.

The thing is these are cheerleaders, not prostitutes. Not strippers, not escorts, its just their job.

I read that report and I see that some of them were photographed topless or in body paint for a non-nude calendar shoot.

Why would they agree to that? Why would they even be asked that? That makes no sense.

I don't care about the Redskins controversy and I actually applaud Snyder for digging in his heels and not caving into a very small handful of native people that don't like the name of his team but this cheerleader story is a bad one without a doubt.

Not a fan of the name personally but is this another case of white people guilt? If 9/10 natives don't find the name offensive who am I to say otherwise.

Ehhh...stuff like this kind of makes me question the accuracy of the poll.

Quote:
The poll, which has a 5.5 percentage-point margin of sampling error, was conducted by randomly calling cellular and landline phones. It asked questions only of people who identified themselves as Native American, after being asked about their ethnicity or heritage.

Bill Cosby, Roman Polanski expelled from the Academy

Quote:
Bill Cosby and Roman Polanski are no longer members of one of Hollywood's most important organizations.

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, the group behind the Academy Awards, has voted to expel the actor and director from its membership, according to a statement from the organization which cited its conduct standards. "The Board continues to encourage ethical standards that require members to uphold the Academy's values of respect for human dignity," a statement from the Academy read.

Cosby was found guilty last week on three counts of aggravated indecent assault. Although he is more strongly associated with television, Cosby was a long-time member of the Academy for his work in film but never won an Oscar. He has starred in more than a dozen movies since the early '70s, including "Jack," "The Meteor Man" and "Fat Albert."

Polanski fled the US in 1978 after being charged with statutory rape of a 13-year-old girl. He has continued filmmaking in Europe. He won the Oscar in 2003 for directing the World War II drama "The Pianist." Since producer Harvey Weinstein was expelled from the Academy in October, following allegations of sexual misconduct that Weinstein has denied, the group received criticism by some in Hollywood for not taking similar action with Polanski. No additional information was immediately available about the pair being expelled from the Academy.

Separately Thursday, members of the American Advertising Federation's (AFF), a trade organization that recognizes professional achievements in the advertising industry, voted to rescind Cosby's induction into the Advertising Hall of Fame. The group also rescinded Cosby's President's Award, which was presented to him at the time of his 2011 induction. According to the AFF, this is the first time members have voted to rescind an induction or award in its 69-year-history.

Exactly, if the only people that are offended by the name is the PC crowd and not the people that it's supposed to offend then it's time to move on from this non-controversy.

Your comment is such nonsense it doesn't even offend me. Why am I racist because I don't agree with the name requiring change? I don't use the word unless I'm discussing the NFL. Most natives don't even consider it a slight so it's a matter of catering to a small group of people that simply don't like the name. You simply can't make everyone happy nor will you ever have everyone in agreement on what a slang term means. Let's not pretend that the name of a football team today that was supposedly a slang term in the 17th century is causing hardships to anyone in 2018.

Michael Noble was was arrested today at his restaurant in Calgary. Not as high profile as Bill Cosby, but a lot closer to home. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgar...ault-1.4647429

The restaurant and bar industry is pretty sleazy. If there's any workplace that needs the lid lifted on its culture and norms, this is it. And it affects vastly more people than the entertainment industry.
