No. That isn’t the CP way.

Even if James Neal is third line speed for the next 5 years... there is a huge difference between him and the plugs we’ve been used to the last...always.
If he gets a rebound or a pass around the net, it’s pretty much an automatic goal. The guy can finish. Picture that goal the other night but Bennett spins and passes it back to Brouwer/Hathaway/Chiasson/Jones/etc... its another wasted scoring chance.
He isn’t relied on for any important minutes, but can capitalize on scoring chances better than anyone else. He’s the perfect fit.

Don't have a problem with him joining the play late or being a pure goal scorer that has some grit. But the eye test for lines 1 and 2 at the moment is a fail.
I watched him play a lot with the knights...he didn't seem this slow. Keyword "seem"..

Outside of the first 5 games of the season with Vegas last year, Neal is your typical Hot/Cold player. Often goes 2-4 games with no points, only to get points in consecutive games before going cold again.

I don't see any issue so far.
It's also 4 games into the season, way too early to judge.

Neal is a shooter. He's never been fast. What you see is what you get.
But this is also why Neal was never a good choice to be on the 1st line. That line already has a couple guys who aren't great without the puck. With Neal on that line opposing coaches would be licking their chops at the matchups. Lindholm is a much better skater than Neal, a more diligent forechecker and backchecker, and a better all-around player. Which is why putting him on the line with Gaudreau and Monahan was the plan all along.

It seems that Neal is the sub for Lindholm on the #1 line, when Lindholm takes a recent shift on the PK.

If there's any issue it's that PP2 is misusing him.

Can you edit the title to James "The Real Frickin Deal" Neal because:
A.) It sounds cool
B.) Give the thread title greater surface area to click on (very important for people on smartphones and laptops without mice)
C.) It does not imply negativity (even though there may be negative discussion in it from time to time)

Give him some time, remember how long it took Brouwer to get up to speed.
