Lol at the Leicester fans cheering at Wout to shoot every time he touches the ball.

River Plate is getting 25 per cent of the fee, so not quite a €108 million profit. Point still stands obviously.

was Fernandez that good at the WC? This just feels bat#### crazy, so put it mildly.

This is one of those transfers that feels like a Post-World Cup overpayment.

that's brilliant by Rashford again. Was already resigned to the fact that they won't score a goal today, but he's just in excellent form. Ten Hag dropped him to bench today for disciplinary reasons (I'd suspect he was late), but he's been threatening ever since coming on.

really interested to see what ideas they have to bring a striker in ... they desperately need one. Martial has strings of really good games, but he's just not consistent enough to be the main man it seems.

That should be it for Donny. Move him on.

There has to be an academy player more worthy of the opportunity and experience.

Rashford might be the best striker in Manchester right now. Likeable player, shame he's at United.

Haaland is pretty good I guess, if you want 40-50 goals a season from a striker.

Great as Haaland is they could be seven points back after today with more dropped points at home to Everton. Lots of time left this season, but they haven't looked great at all and Arsenal have been humming all year.

Newcastle dropping points at home too. Lovely.

That sentence would have never crossed my mind a few years ago, but I'd love for Arsenal to just run with it.

Arsenal two up at HT.

I’m beginning to believe that the Large Hadron Collider has catapulted us into a parallel universe.

Worst possible outcome. I’m just hoping for the usual February/March collapse at this point.

We’ve been a shambles since scoring the fourth.

Lots of learning points.

There is plenty for Arteta to look at because that was not how you look to close out a game.

Credit to Brighton, they are a very good side that clearly have a strong mentality. They could have collapsed, but instead, they made it hard for Arsenal and exposed some weaknesses.

All I hoped for for the end of the year was for Arsenal to put in a good challenge for the top four.

This is all gravy - I don’t expect it to last, but there has now got to be a shout at the title and top four should be assured.

Happy New Year!
