Let's face it that two year deal atv2.5 cam be added to Trelivings list of retirement contracts. Paid a guy 5 million to contribute nothing to the team.

Because everyone totally knew Kylington would be unable to play for most of it, except Treliving, the Dumbest Man in the Universe™.

Let's be honest the fact that the Flames got less value out of that deal than the Mangiapsne, Kadri, and Huberdeau ones almost seems cruel. Just a cursed year that 2022 for the Franchise.
I doubt anyone would have predicted that.

He could end up back in Calgary somewhere down the road. We are going nowhere with or without this guy.

Were the flames contractually obligated to pay him?

They could have suspended him or to get paid he could have gone LTIR on the player asst program but then everything would have been public.
Flames were very nice to him.

Maybe there was something about Calgary (not necessarily the organization) that was a trigger for him and he needed a change.
I am disappointed that he's gone, but wish him the best.
Could he have signed for more in Calgary? Probably. But sometimes it's not about the money

Not sure if he was a fit here or not. Great skater. Great puckhandler. Good shot. Super shakey D zone coverage. Not very physical.
Think he pissed conman off by how quickly they signed Bean. Curious to hear what the flames offer was.
There’s also the possibility he didn’t want to play in Cgy anymore. Although I have a feeling that probably wasn’t the case.

Good Luck OK, hope your issues are behind you. The team seemed to do right by him, he gambled, lost. Fine.
I'm trying to understand this from a COL point of view. Per the bold - yeah, nice low buy moves, except now COL has 9 NHL d-men, all waiver eligible, 3 you signed this past UFA period, AND you are over the cap by $5.6 mil, AND over the roster limit buy 2. WHY? No way you can say to OK that he'll get playing time/opportunity - he's 9th on the chart! If this was CGY we'd be going nuts trying to figure out who to move!
I just don't get it.

I wish nothing but the best for Kylington but I hope he enjoys the Colorado Eagles this season. I suspect that is where he is going to shake out when all is said and done in Colorado.

The only person affected here is the guy signing the cheques. Kylington wasn’t going to be a difference maker, his contract didn’t hurt our cap, and the fans aren’t paying his contract out of pocket. Bitching about this is ridiculous.

I wish him the best of health. And a complete lack of success on ice, for his betrayal after the Flames were loyal and supportive to him for 2 season.

I won't miss Kylington, was never a big fan even pre mental health break. This is just business to me and I wish him no ill will in Colorado. Hope he takes off actually but I don't see much more upside in him really. Some skills but lacks the little things that would take him over the top to be a top regular. Calgary won't miss him.
The situation is/was odd but this crap happens all the time in sports. This is one of those situations where you just move along and forget he really ever played for the team. Not worth getting worked up over one way or another.

There is little doubt Murray Edwards loathed paying him a salary the past few years. It's not very Edwards like the way the Flames handled this. I bet it wasn't sunshine and buttercups behind the scenes.
Everyone deserves privacy and all that, but when you leave gaps for speculation, people will fill them with guesses that you may not prefer. You get the privacy, but you don't get the benefit of the doubt unfortunately.
I'm proud the Flames handled it this way but also glad we have moved on. Even if he becomes this amazing stud Dman.

OK may be the single most over rated Flame player on this board....ever.
At best a bottom pairing guy who can skate well and move up a spot when needed...in short spurts. Moreso a soft defender who has very limited 2 way abilities to this point.
A remarkably averageish decade with the team who had his back in every possible way when most teams would have cut bait long ago.
Maybe he figures something out in Colorado but I wouldn't be holding my breath. The Flames will not miss him imo.

A one year show me deal. Just what many of us said he’d need to sign. I think him moving on is best for both sides.
