That’s a lot of lost money for a guy who could be 1 game from retirement at any point . Ooops

I don't know what Calgary offered but I'm 99.9% sure it was better than this.

Kylington and Brannstrom were some nice buy low moves to replace Byram. Kylington was the only one of the 7 pending UFA’s that was lost for nothing and it never should have gone that way.

I'll always cheer for him, and hope he can move forward with his life and career.
Would have liked to see him do it here, but it didn't work out that way.

And just hours after he reached UFA, Conroy replaced him with Bean, who is a year younger, $750,000 cheaper than Kylington's old contract, and there are no doubts that he'll be available to play.
So basically, no loss at all. Pretty impressive work by Conroy cleaning up that whole mess.

Yea... this screams Kylington & his agent overpaying their hand (going for more than the likely 2x2 that was offered) and having to settle for one of the only options available.
I wish Kylington the best, but he and his agent waaaay overplayed his hand and *likely* hurt his career in the long run.
I mean, at the very least, unless Kylington breaks into a top 4/amazing top 6 for the Avs, he's still not getting the $3M+ it would take to equal the deal he was likely offered to stay I'm calgary (in a much better role situation)
I wish him all the best and want to see him succeed, but if he doesn't, poor him/Barry

Meh, it’s a big fat nothing burger for me…moving on, all the best to OK and his career and mental health.
Now let’s focus on players that want to be a part of the journey here longer term…

I think the Avs have 8 NHL D-men signed. If Malinski goes on waivers, I’d love for the Flames to claim him

How are there hurt feelings on both sides. What did the flames do to hurt Oliver's feelings?
The flames paid him for 1.5 seasons to not play. Then they offered him a contract with 1-year of additional term and $1m of additional salary per year than any other team would pay him? And he turned that down and then had "hurt feelings"? Why?
Man I get leaving for more money. Or more term. Or because the team or it's fans treated you poorly. But zero of that applies here.
This is the opposite of classy. This is bitch slapping an organization that showed you nothing but love and injuring yourself in the process.

I am not one to boo players that move on, but if I was, this guy deserves the boos more than any former flame not named Adam Fox. The team goes above and beyond for this guy and he F's off. Zero loyalty, zero class.

Well in my honest opinion, he has his right to sign whichever team he pleases, and the fans have their rights to boo him. There is no embarrassment what so ever.

100% Kylington will be boo'd by a decent portion of the Flames' crowd next time he's at the Dome.
No doubt he deserves support.
Also no doubt he deserves whatever reaction he gets come next game in Calgary.
The way she goes.

Conroy said the door was closed on him coming back. What do you want him to do ? If a teams pulls its offer you can’t just come back.
He was replaced immediately by a better player. I see no reason to boo him. He didn’t screw the team like Johnny did.

Yes, you see no reason, doesn't mean others see no reason. You don't and won't boo him, that's fine. Doesn't mean others shouldn't.

It isn't like the Flames paid him for a year and a half not to play out of the goodness of their hearts. He was on a guaranteed deal. He owed us nothing, and we owed him nothing once his contract was up. I wish the guy the best with his health and hope he does well in Colorado. He could end up back in Calgary somewhere down the road. We are going nowhere with or without this guy.

At the end of the day, Kylington:
- would've got more years here (based on all reports)
- would've got more money here (2x2 was around the rumored offer)
- would've got more opportunity to improve his role/ice time
- got more organizational support from the team that knows what he's going through..
Etc..
Wish him a successful stop in Colorado, but I wouldn't be surprised nor sad to see a poor season as a 6/7 D-man turning into an overseas player next year.
