After a torrid stretch moved them into playoff position, the Detroit Red Wings likely were due for this step backward.

The Red Wings have followed a 10-2-2 span by dropping the first two outings in a four-game road trip heading into Saturday afternoon's tilt with the Flames in Calgary.

Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Vancouver Canucks followed Tuesday's 8-4 setback to the Edmonton Oilers, but Detroit has not lost confidence in its ability to generate offense.

I know hockey players are 'creatures of habit' but I hate that BS excuse.

Most interesting thing about this game will be if Markstrom is starting. If he starts then have to think he isn’t getting traded this weekend.

Can't sit him until the deadline, but if the deal is just being held up by the stadium game, it seems prudent to start Vladar.

Yes. I’m very interested to see Markstrom’s role in this game. I’m hoping Markstrom, Hanifin and Tanev are all traded. (I want the team to focus on the long-term.) Also, I’d like to see the team give an honest effort and win after the debacle against San Jose. Let’s not forget. Dom Luszczyszyn from the Athletic still has the Flames making the playoffs, as the second wild card, over Nashville and St. Louis. Go Flames Go!

I really doubt either team sits their players... Flames are trying to stay desperate for wins. You want the player to stop playing for our team, close the deal.
