Why are some windshield wipers such a pain in the ass to replace? This seems like something that should be pretty standard across most/all vehicles. I spent almost an hour today trying to change the wipers on our newer vehicle. It was the first time I did the job so I watched two YouTube videos so that I knew what I was doing and it was still a huge pain in the ass and a major struggle. Finally figured it out but I still managed to put a screwdriver blade into my palm while trying to depress the stupid little tabs.

Worked from home during the entire pandemic yet my office now requires us to be in on certain days. Spent 2 hours on the roads getting home tonight. You would think at some point common sense would prevail and employees could make a personal decision on days like this. I can hardly wait for the commute tomorrow morning. Good thing they preach to us to work smarter not harder…

I'm fine with some days in the office now that we are post-pandemic, but there should absolutely be more flexibility with regards to days like yesterday or today. We had several people (including me) leave early yesterday to beat the traffic, so why did we have to come in at all?

Even on my 20+ year old jeep I managed to snap the plastic bracket on a new $20+ wiper blade last night. Ended up with a whole ordeal of coaxing the metal loop open a bit more, sanding down the corrosion and generally futzing around for 20 mins. So now I have one new and one old blade until I get back to the store but I have persuaded the old one back into good enough shape for now.

Are you in today? We were all in yesterday because the morning was fine and people couldn't predict the ####show that was the evening commute. I think they get a pass. But no excuse for stupidity today. Our CEO send out an email last night saying only skeleton staff on site today. So I'm home!

My son started a new job last week. He was told the goal is to achieve 40 hours of work per week and we don’t care when you put the hours in. He likes it.

I have to assume this is intentional by vehicle manufactures to force you to get the wipers replaced with a service appointment, or at least make it easier to upsell the replacement when you're getting something else done. The next time you have it at the dealer to get something done, you'll remember the screwdriver to your palm and decide that it's worth it to pay double or triple the amount it should cost to get them done by the service bay.

I assumed it was a safety issue of them flying off and/or for reasons of aerodynamics.
Being a pain to remove isn't the main issue IMO. It's the fact there's like 8 different connector heads.

Lol! What Grinds my Gears is that this is a slower time of year for me, but I have a client with an emergency that is time sensitive and they had appointment this morning.
So I have to go in for this one thing...and the client cancels 10 minutes before our appointment time.
I'm already here, but I'm going to try and bail before traffic gets too bad.

This is the big part that I don't understand. Why does there need to be so many different types of wiper arms even across a single automaker? It doesn't appear that there is any logical reason for one design being better than another and if there is one design that is the best it would make sense for all automakers to adopt that wiper arm.

Congratulations to our green bin driver. He went through the neighborhood today and didn’t take anyone’s bags of leaves. Completely ridiculous, but this is the kind of service I’ve come to expect from these guys. I’m sure I’ve posted about this same stupidity before.

I’ve never met our green bin driver. But judging from how he does (or doesn’t) do his job, he strikes me as a deeply unhappy person.

Does your guy also do speed runs? Basically a 75% tip of the bin before it’s quickly thrown back on the ground still half full? Then full gas, to full brake, repeat.

Yeah he left leaves and debris in front of peoples houses this week doing just that. It’s pretty pathetic, because honestly these guys are well paid. I get that it’s not a glamorous job, but if you don’t want to do it properly, go do something else.

The driver that does our street is the polar opposite. Non-stop banging of bins when he drives by. But he isn't leaving #### on the ground or bins half emptied, so I assume he's doing a good job making sure he's doing he job effectively. Even blue bins rarely have stuff left inside from being wedged in incorrectly.
