Default CP 2024 Ordered Draft List (April 9th Edition) #7

Each pick you choose who you would take if you were the Flames GM. Not a mock draft of the standings. Who the Flames would pick at #2 (skipping #1) through say #12 or greater if we see the value.

When done we will have CP consensus list for the Flames.

I'll run a few a day with a cut off around total votes so this doesn't take two weeks to complete.

We can run it weekly to see how things change.

RESULTS:

1. Celebrini (not voted)
2. Demidov
3. Dickinson
4. Levshunov
5. Lindstrom
6. Iginla

There are maybe five defensemen who could be the first blueliner selected. If it were me, I’d make Parekh the first.

I voted Silayev. Mostly because I style myself as a Darryl Sutter type GM who happens to love drafting Russians. Otherwise known as Darill Sutterov.

Silayev might have the highest ceiling out of the remainig.6 "7 smooth skating physical two-way D.

Easy to see what he brings to the table and think Hedman as a ceiling.

I only read a few draft profiles for top ranked guys, so maybe I'm completely off base, but it feels like his ceiling is maybe Zadorov with a bit better defense. He's never really put up any points, even in the MHL.
Like, if he was 6'0, I'm curious if anyone would be talking about him.

Went Catton. Given the Flames organization depth, I feel his value is his position. On top of some high end skills.

A big part of the hype around Silayev was how he started the season in the KHL. His 2 goals, 7 points in the first 19 games as a 17 year old had already set a record for a U-18 player in the KHL and he was on track to demolish the record for U-19 players as well (which was only 10). This shot him to the top of the early season draft rankings. Then for the rest of the season he had 1 goal and 4 points in the remaining 44 games. I think if that offense had come in the middle of the season his ranking would be quite a bit lower. Instead scouts/draft watchers got very excited and overreacted to a small sample size. I think he's still got potential as a player that was able to hold his own in a men's league as a 17 year old, but the offense really disappeared through the season.

LOL, after #1, it's Lindstrom at 2 or 3 until he's no longer available. Then, it's Tij Iginla until he is chosen by the Flames from draft positions 3 and up. I really don't care who the Flames choose outside those 3 players.

My list probably runs:

Celebrini
Lindstrom
Iginla <I would be happy if we took this guy anywhere from 2 onwards>
Demidov
Catton
Dickinson
Levshunov
-I start getting disappointed with the outcome below here, anyone above here and I'm getting very excited-
Parekh
Yakemchuk
Helenius

I really hope someone jumps early on Silayev due to his size. Do it OTT/MTL/ARZ/CBJ! Talk yourselves into thinking he's the next Chara.
