I think the idea is the baby making comes about 10 minutes after mommy gets her salad tossed

The notion that big dogs = aggressive dogs is unfounded. Smaller dogs are much more temperamentally aggressive than big dogs. At the off-leash it’s always the smaller dogs that bark and snarl and snap at bigger dogs, and the owners are typically hopeless at calming them.
I don’t know why people seem to think small dog = easier. Small dog breeds like terriers are typically highly energetic, neurotic, and aggressive. They’re the farthest thing from low-maintenance.
Sure, when big dogs are aggressive it’s a much bigger problem than when small dogs are aggressive. But it’s uncommon for big dogs to be aggressive in the first place (and I’m not talking about bully breeds, I’m talking about bigger dogs in general).

This link seems to disagree, some big dogs on that list.
So does this one
https://www.urbanpethospital.com/blo...s-in-the-World
I'm not saying they are the authority, but the two lists look pretty similar and the breeds pretty big.

I'd like to see that Dachshund come at me. I'd stand on a pebble and be out of range.

I've only been bitten twice, and both times by wiener dogs. They are violent little ####heads. I do have a basic understanding that if those dogs were 80 pounds heavier, I'd be currently walking on one leg, though.

I do think that some breeds are more aggressive, but the issue is more the level of damage they can do v. smaller dogs.
Which I think is well understood. A wiener dog isn't going to kill an 11 year old.

Yeah, the issue to me isn’t which dogs are better behaved, more aggressive, easier to train. It’s that some of them carry a risk of killing and seriously injuring people when they act out, whereas many dogs can’t do lethal damage.
Edit: Realized Jiri said basically the same thing.

Yeah, I think it's pretty obvious that the issue is the combination of size and aggression, not just aggression, when it comes to danger to the public.

Dachshunds were bred to hunt and kill badgers. About the most inherently ignorant dog going.
Cool dogs, but they weren't bred to be snuggly lap dogs.

and your point is?
They still aren't going to tear an 11 year old apart.

My experience with trying to have bylaw intervene with neighbours who have dangerous dogs or dogs who constantly bark is that often these people are dog lovers and think you're the a-hole for having the gall to want them to enforce existing laws and bylaws.

Barking vs Killing other animals and sending someone to hospital are a big difference
But it does make you wonder
