Yeah the juxtaposition of her on the Star Destroyer looking like bridge and the Imperial looking officers is just chilling.

Few more things, MAKE SURE YOU ARE ALL CAUGHT UP!!!!

CAUGHT UP?!?!

A fan synced up the Palp/Windu fight with the Ahsoka/Maul fight, we heard Palp Force Scream at the start, so basically those two fights are happening at the exact same time. As Ahsoka fights Maul denying his claims against Anakin, Anakin is falling to the dark side literally at the exact same time.

This is pretty damn cool and just cements why Ahsoka is my favourite. As Anakin bows to the dark side, Ahsoka denies Maul.

And a behind the scenes look with Filoni including some motion capture with Ray Park for the fight.

I'd love to see more of this in their future animated series! Filoni has said the louder the fans are about this the more ammo he has to keep this stuff coming.

And one last thing, a short clip from the upcoming episode:

Spoiler!

I guess the outro song for the series will be Garth Brooks - The Dance?

Part 3 was another great one.

Damn, Monday can't come soon enough. Good thing it's not another week long wait for the finale.

That was amazing.

Probably my only disagreement with the plot choices is her letting Maul run free to injure/kill the clones, she'd want to protect them despite them targeting her I think, even if she didn't understand what was going on.

I think she realized that there was no stopping them from carrying out their mission, she'd been around long enough to understand that.

Its amazing how they literally became Stormtroopers, Rex orders to the troopers were chilling and matter of fact.

Rebels over the first season in a half was almost too cute and kidsy for me, but I was glad I stuck with it.

In the end in a lot of ways there was a superiority over Clone Wars in terms of character development, you really fell in love with that Rebel Cell. At the same time they continually like Clone Wars made things way darker and more hopeless.

The one thing that Rebels really did exceptionally was their last scenes in every season. They were gut wrenching and awesome to see.

Ending of season one and the return on Ashoka and the introduction of Vader

Ending of season 2 Everything about this ending was awesome. The face of Rex when he learns of Ashoka's fate, the music, The perspective of Ezra opening the Sith Holocron and possibly being seduced by the Dark Side.

Season 3 - In the midst of hopelessness a call to action

Season 4 - The end, I marked out when Ashoka returned in the Gandalf the Grey garb

I had to rewatch it tonight, and I thought of the links to rebels and it was a wrecking experience.

In Ashoka's conversation with Yoda he asked her if she wanted to pass on a message to Anakin and she said she would do it when she saw him.

Years later, when she thinks she see's Anakin instead of Vader she says "I won't abandon you this time"

Its fairly gutwrenching.

With the end of the Clone Wars coming on Monday and the terrific episodes that are being played right now. I thought I would look back on this series as it rapidly became one of my favorite parts of the GFFA.

If you look at the quality of the short form Star Wars stories like Rebels, the Mandalorian, the original Japanese must watch Clone Wars stories its hard to believe that Clone Wars created a strong resurgence in the Star Wars Fans galaxy.

I'll admit that when Clone Wars came out it seemed to be too kid friendly, and I wasn't a big fan of the wooden animation style that they were using, and while I had somewhat liked the Clone Wars movie, I didn't think that it would really catch my interest.

But a funny thing happened. As the series evolved it made you really care about not only the main characters like Ben Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker and Ashoka Tano. But it made you care about the Clone Troopers of the Grand Army of the Republic who will eventually become the tools of oppression for the First Galactic Empire. We also put characters to faces in the movies. The un named or minor Jedi characters became deep. We got a lot of really incredible villains like Trench and Ventress and even Dooku. We got the return of Maul who became one of the most tragic characters in the series. We even got a deeper look at the brilliance and evil of Palpatine the future Emperor.

What I would like to do is look at some of my favorite story arcs from each of the 7 seasons.

Season 1

Season 1 didn't have much in the way of connected story lines with most of the episodes being single episodic runs. But we did get some brilliant episodes like the Rookies, Cloak of Darkness. But there were two main story arcs.

The first was the Malevolence arc. The Republic frantically tried to stop the Malevolence a Seperatist super weapon that would disable and destroy entire republic fleets. We saw the brutal nature of the Seperatists in this episode with their take no prisoners attitude. We saw Anakin's impulsive nature and Ashoka's influence on him, and we saw the start of the incredibly close relationship between Anakin and Obi-Wan

Near the end of the season we got a second long story arc the Ryloth liberation story. This was a nifty piece of story telling as they told the story of breaking the blockade over Ryloth and then beating the seperatists. We also met what we would learn would later become the father of Hera in Rebels the Freedom fighter Syndulla. We had several powerful story beats in this three episode series. We saw Ashoka made a Anakin like impulsive decision that cost her most of the clones under her command that would effect her throughout the series. We also saw the humanization of the Clones in a big way as they escort a little girl through the battlezone. In the end though we saw a frightening glimpse into the future as the Clone Troopers remained as almost occupiers after they defeated the Seperatists.

Season 2

Entitled the Rise of the Bounty Hunters, this season started the darkening of the series as there was a focus on the Galactic Underworld. We also saw the machinations of Palpatine.

Right off of the bat we met Cad Bane a bounty hunter and really intriguing character as he stole a Jedi Holocron and began to collect Force Sensitive Children. We learned that Palpatine intended to created a future army of Sith spies and assasins, a possible precurser to the Inquisitors that we would meed in Rebels.

We got a short arc on the second battle of Geonosis as the Republic tried to destroy a Seperatist droid factory. This series is worth a watch just because its the first mass battle scene between the Seperatists and the Republic that was really realistic and brutal. During this episode we also saw one of the major reasons why Anakin fell, as he refused to let go of Ashoka after she was lost, sacrificing herself to destroy the factory. Though we got a happy ending, we realized that Anakin had a great flaw that would be exploited.

The next great story comes later in the season on Mandalore. There we meet Satine the Queen of the Mandalore and former girlfriend of Kenobi. We also meet Death Watch who want to return Mandalore away from its pacifistic position and take them back to their warrior past. This story features corruption and a lot of political intrigue.

The other really interesting storyline is the short Zilo beast story, where the republic accidentally unleashes a ancient beast. This arch is important because it shows the ruthlessness of Palpatine when he learns that the beasts scales are invulnerable to light sabres. The satisfied smirk on Palpatine's face at the end when he realizes that he's played the Jedi for Dupes was beautiful

Season 3.

Called Secret's revealed. We see the galaxy becoming dark as the Republic begins to crumble.

The opening arc covers the training of a lot of Clone Troopers that we learn to love as rookies in training and they're a disaster that can't get along. We meet fives and echo's among others as they try to become a team of soldiers. The second episode shows the invasion of Kamino as the Seperatists try to steal the genetic templates for Clones and we see the rookies return to fight a heroic action. We also learn what happens to imperfect clones. Overall this is a why we fight series.

Later in the season we get the nightsisters arc as Dooku betrays Ventress and she returns to Dathomir. This is a huge arc as we see the rise of Savage Opress the brother of Maul. We see that Ventress, not a true villian was misunderstood and taken advantage of. We also learn that Maul is alive and Opress goes to find his brother.

We got the Mortis arc, which took place on an unknown planet where Obi, Anakin and Ashoka meet the Father, son and Daughter. The Daughter represents the pure light side of the Force the Son the Darkside and the father keeps the balance, but the father is ailing. This arc is great as we see Ashoka fall to the Darkside, and we see Anakin see his future as Darth Vader and to stop that future he agrees to help the Brother escape so they can stop Sidious plan. In the end though the Sister, and the Brother are killed and Anakin who was offered a chance to stay and balance the force refuses. At this point the series really starts to go really dark as the Force goes out of balance and tips to the Darkness.

Season three then jumps straight to the Citadel where Jedi Master Even Pell is captured by the Seps and put in an ancient prison designed to hold fallen Jedi. This series is hugely important because Pell holds the secret Hyperspace routes to the Core which becomes crucial in Revenge of the Sith. We also meet Captain Tarkin. We learn that Tarkin doesn't believe that the Jedi are worthy Jedi because they're not ruthless enough, and we see Anakin agreeing with him. We see a future strong alliance forcing. We also see the impulsive nature of Ashoka who's becoming a lot like Anakin. The chase and battle scenes are amazing and we see more Clones that we know die.

The final arc was the Jedi lost arch where Ashoka is kidnapped by Tandoshian's and released in a jungle to be hunted for sport. This arc is important because we see Anakin consumed by guilt over losing his Padawan. We also see growth in Ashoka who has to fight to survive and protect others. This is where she really becomes the Jedi that we see later in the series. We are also introduced to Chewie.

Part 2 which is seasons 4 5 6 and 7 I'll put up tomorrow. My hope here is that for some that want to watch the series but maybe want to separate the wheat from the chaff can find something useful here to guide them.

Thought I'd continue, for some reason I'm really restless tonight.

Season 4 Battle Lines

We start heading into the height of the Clone Wars and start to see the real cracks develop in the Republic. The galaxy continues to plummet into darkness as Darth Sidious' plans take shape and yet are threatened.

The first arc takes place on Mon Cala, This is kind of cool thing because the entire thing takes place under water. We also get introduced to Ackbar. This is a fight between the two inhabitants of Mon Cala the delicious Mon Calamari and the Quarrens. The Separatists are ruthlessly using the Quarren in this civil war. We meet a frightening Sep Leader in the form of Tamsan and his end is a salute to Jaws.

The next major arc is the Umbara arc and its a must watch, especially if you want to understand why some Clone Troopers didn't mind order 66. This was a beautiful and brutal 4 part story that takes place on Umbara a world of eternal darkness and a death trap. The premise is that Anakin is called back to Coruscant by the Supreme Chanceller and command of the 501st is turned over the Jedi Master Pong Krell a brutal general who doesn't view the Clones in the same way as Obi and Anakin. He views them as disposable and racks up a major body count. In the end he orders the Clones to be executed and then sets up a battle that results in clones murdering clones. Its a heart wrenching reveal and the Clones take action into their own hand. we find out that the Jedi aren't infalable as Krell when confronted states, in one of the most horrify and revealing lines in the series.

Spoiler!

Immediately after Umbara the Republic sends Anakin, Rex and Obi-Wan to infiltrate the great slaver empire on Zygaria to prevent them from joining the separatists. There Anakin is forced to face his past as a slaver and barely controls his hatred and anger. Obi-Wan is broken and in the end
Spoiler!

This whole season is a lot of arcs. We move on to the Jedi council faking Obi-Wans death so he can infiltrated the underworld who are plotting to kidnap or kill the Supreme Chanceller. The problem is that while the plan works well with Obi-Wan being alterered to look like a captured mercenary. Anakin enraged and seeking revenge for his masters death pursues Obi-Wan. At the end of this arc you can see that Anakin is becoming more and more distrustful of the Jedi Council and Obi-Wan himself.

The last arc concerns Savage Opress hunting down Maul and returning him to Dathomir for heeling. Once awaked Maul is obessed with revenge against Obi-Wan and declares himself the Master and Opress as his apprentice and goes on a reign of terror through the underworld to draw OBi-Wan out

Season 5

The first arc of season 5 is a mainly Ashoka arc as she leads a resistance on the planet of Alderaan. Its hear that we meet Saw and his sister Steela. Ashoka grows through tragedy and matures and at the same time flirts with falling in love with Lux Bonteri

Near the end of the season we get to a hugely important arc which takes place on Mandalore as Maul and Opress make an alliance with Death Watch who with the help of the criminal underworld over throw Satine. Obi-Wan comes to the rescue and Maul enacts a brutal act of revenge on Obi-Wan. At the same time Maul has attracted the attention of his former master and we get one of the most epic and awesome duels in the series. At the same time Maul shifts from a revenge based monster to a more tragic figure.

The last Arc I believe tips Anakin away from the Jedi Council as Ashoka is accused of a crime and goes on the run to clear her name. This leads to the return of Ventress and we learn that all is not as it should be in the Jedi Council. The end of this and at the time the series was tragic and heartbreaking and alters the lives of Anakin and Ashoka

Season 6 - The lost missions

These were really stories that Filoni had written but never made. But when they made them they upped the animation and production quality.

The first arc starts out with a Clone Trooper brutally murdering a Jedi General. This leads 5's to investigate this and we first learn about the inhibitor chips in the Clone Troopers heads. This is a combination of a great detective story with a lot of intrigue. We learn that the plan by Sidious is fully in place and he has a lot of help.

the other arc not as much must see as interesting in a lore sense. Yoda begins to hear the voice of Qui-gon talking to him. The Jedi think he's cracked up but Yoda escapes their custody and goes on a quest to understand the concept of eternal life for a Jedi. From a story telling sense its a bit weird and trippy. However we do get Darth Bane reintroduced into Canon and see an inevitable confrontation between the Jedi and the Sith.

Again there are other arcs and individual stories that were really well done and amazing. Anything to do with Death Watch and Mandolore has a cool factor of 10 and we meet Bo Katan which is important.

Anyways. For those of you watching, enjoy the end of the series on Monday and to sound completely cheesy

May the 4th be with you.

I think that Clone Wars really redeemed George as a overall Story teller. He had this amazing vision of the GFFA, and a conclusive and pretty logic story line. Yeah there were lots of problems in the PT, a lot of those issues were more mechanical or technical then anything else.

But we saw what Star Wars was like with George Lucas not as a story teller as the ST was just a mess and a bad story that had to borrow or reboot the earlier movies and made them worse.

Filoni really needs to be given the keys to star wars and with the stories we hear about Kathleen Kennedy and her handling of the ST especially The Rise of Skywalker, she just can't be allowed to be in charge of any Disney offerings anymore.
