Well yeah that's not right either.
But there's a subset of those people who also want to make sure everyone else knows that they hate Xmas.
If you don't like Xmas that's cool. Keep it to yourself and let others enjoy it.

I will not be silenced........
But it's not about grabbing and stopping people on the street to yell in their face about how bad Christmas is (oh god that would be fun).
It is about when people ask or mention how great Christmas is. When people as what is my favourite part of Christmas. I tell them I don't like it, I never has liked it, but that than creates a follow up of questions.

Eight year-old me f-cking loved Christmas in Australia. 25°C outside, it was glorious.
Then my parents revealed in my Christmas card that they'd bought me my first computer from Future Shop (yes, I still remember the exact specs) and I wanted to go home IMMEDIATELY.

An Australia vacation AND a new PC as an 8-year old? Man the 90s sounded awesome.

I'm with you. I started going back to the malls a couple of years ago because I found that pure online shopping deprived me of some of the enjoyment of Christmas. While it's true that I'm not much of a shopper, there is something fun about wandering around the mall shopping for gifts for me.

Dad worked in maintenance for Air Canada, and Qantas was a code-share partner, so we flew standby.

I love the idea of going to the mall, then get instant anxiety and leave after 10 minutes.

Yeah the mall sounds great in theory, but then you get there and realize why crowds suck.

I’m not sure if this is a case of poor phrasing or full blown Scrooge mcduckery.

I really like the holiday vibes we get around this time and lasting till end of the year. It really alleviates the depressing winter here in Canada IMO.
For the folks who say they despise all the Christmas commercialization during this time of year, do you guys like January better? Because I actually find January to be the most depressing month of the year, bar none. It's the month where all the Christmas lights and decoration are put away, and it's just dark and nothing to look forward to until closer to end of Feb / Mar and end of winter.

I think if you love Christmas you should keep it to yourself. : )
I recognize and celebrate nothing about this vomitous holiday, except the few days off work. I like the few days off work.

Watching the forum over the years go from being populated with cynical 20 and 30 somethings to fully misanthropic and miserable 40 and 50 year olds has been a wild ride. This thread is great.

It's different things to different people. Days off work, family gatherings, getting together with friends, curling up around the fireplace with a loved one, vacationing somewhere, shopping, etc. There's no wrong answers and really no reason to be grumpy about what others choose to do during the festive season.

My jewish wife and I have decided that we will start celebrating "christmas" as saturnalia, but we both like kitchy christmas stuff so we'll keep the santa motif and the like.
