It's especially crazy when you look back at how high they have consistently drafted over the last decade or more!

And, still while in the thick of high drafting they are the oldest team in the league!

They really blew it.

I remember when Lowe was running things up there. I swear he had it written into broadcasting contracts with Sportsnet and HNIC that they had to mention the phrase "the young, exciting Oilers" at least 10 time per broadcast.

All those high draft picks and no Calder Trophies.

Now it's the old and inexperienced Oilers.

No. That is unreasonable.

What is reasonable is that the Oilers continually reject any and all versions of a schedule that they believe is NOT maximally to their explicit benefit as much as possible.

You can say… “yeah… well… all teams do this, but their business practise of an egotistical predatory rejection of reciprocity or win/win in almost any relationship is well established.

It might be with local bars, liquor vendors, or trademarking the phrase “battle of Alberta”.

All teams may push back to some extent. However, the likelihood that the Oilers take it to the extreme is very high.

Oh look, the Oilers are in Boston to finally play a tough opponent in the big bad Bruins...who played last night in Toronto.

I'm not sure there is any schedule negotiating. With the amount of variables involved in each team's venue, I imagine there are probably only a handful of combinations that actually work for all involved, and a computer does the breakdown so there's no actual human work involved at all.

Their third game in four nights, two being on the road.

Its not the massive conspiracy constantly made out to be.

It doesn’t have to be a massive conspiracy. But it’s convenient when their schedule gets as tough as it has all year how it’s still not that bad when you consider things like other teams playing back to backs as well. If this stretch of “tough” games for them were all against rested teams then no one would be commenting on it

It's not done by computers. The NHL keeps a full-time staff for the purpose, headed by Steve Hatze Petros.

Flames fans are getting as soft as the Oilers schedule.

The schedule thing is ridiculous. Oilers play more b2b at 10 then Canucks at 9 or flames at 8. Oilers have the most travel of any team as well.

Seems like whinging to me

You’re missing the point that a large number of their back to backs are ALSO teams on back to backs. It’s like having a beer league game with 8 skaters but your opponent also has 8 skaters

I can't find it with google, but does anyone have a list for the teams that play the most teams on the second night of a back to back?

The NHL Head Office needs to implement more punitive measures against the Oilers.

That is all.

Oilers have faced more backups than any team in the league...call it whatever you like but when its over 30 in early March you can't deny it has had an impact on their record.
