I put the snow from my driveway onto the sidewalk. Which then makes it public snow. Which then means I can put it onto the road.

That only works at bus stops. It's the transitive property of snow.

I’m not sure if I’ve ever slipped on a sidewalk but parking lots are a different story. I know is not practical to clean them as diligently but businesses would have my appreciation if they did.

Hmm interesting, you can park your car on your driveway, let it get snowed on all night, back it out into the roadway the next morning and brush it off there. I’ll only have to shovel half my driveway!

We have some horrible sidewalks around our neighbourhood that slopes enough that during the freeze / thaw cycles the water will run across the sidewalk and freeze, exacerbated by the fact that it’s sloped, you end up with a big slipping hazard.

Charging ports in new cars RGMG. I have had a few rentals recently and both have a charging pot for USB-C type port which is pretty common these days with Android and iOS phones. The issue I have is that they all require an adaptor in order to use, you can't plug them into using the larger port which I just don't understand the benefit would be?
Maybe I am just an old school tech guy but I just plug the Type C port into my phone, the port into the wall brick and plug my phone into the wall. I used to be able to just take the cord, plus the plug the cord into the phone and the port into the car to charge the phone. This made it universal for all cars and different charging ports like mirco usb etc. What is the actual benefit to the new way of things?

USB C is the new standard, surpassing the old ones.

Wait, people clean snow off their cars? Driving around the last couple days I call BS on that. The amount of people that have a few inches on the top of the cars going onto major roadways causing big issues is way to high.

This I know and I totally understand/agree with similar ports but now are we needing to buy new cables that are double ended USB C ports? Are people not charging their devices similar to what I described which is the type C port into the device and the larger port into the wall charger?
I use an Android but I don't understand why someone using a 2022 iPhone charger would need to go buy new cables and adaptors specifically for 2023/24 model cars of which I have rented recently.
Do we need adaptors now to charge our phones via our computers ports? The larger port end used to be universal and their was various plug in options before which made things challenging sometimes but now we are just redoing the opposite for no progress I think?

USB C is the new standard, and new laptops and desktops come with them. Same with power bricks.

Not sure what the big deal is, just get a usb-c to lightning cable. I have some anyways because USB-C chargers are nice and quick.

My Android device uses USB-C charging so I have those cables. What I didn't know or realize or really understand is that the opposite end of all newer cables has now changed and both sides of all cables now need to be Type C?
I know that the EU wanted a common standard for all devices which was the mandate for moving Apple and others to type C, this makes total sense to me. Having billions of charging ports, cables and more that are effectively useless in short order unless you buy an adaptor doesn't make sense.
I guess it's progress in some ways since now both ends match 100% but previously virtually all ports on one sided were also universal for phones, tablets, computers and more.

Newer iPhones have a USB-C port.
You can get USB-C to Lightning cables for older iPhones.
What's the issue?

I don't use an iPhone but my gear grinder why the larger universal end that went into the wall brick changed to become universal in a smaller format. I just wasn't aware.

The other major difference is that USB C can support a lot more power. A is limited to 12w(technically, can be exceeded), C can do 100w. It can also be used to transmit video signals like HDMI. So it's not just the shape of the plug.

You can use either. You’re not forced to use a USB-C wall-wart, you can still use the ubiquitous USB-A ones.
