This concept is very, very good. However, I still prefer what the Flames actually wore from 1980 to 1993 over this and every other suggestion in this thread.

Based on the description of removing the silver and piping and going back to royal blue, they basically are going retro. Hopefully they go back to the six-stripe socks too.
Interesting that the Sabres are switching from Navy back to Royal blue while the Oilers are apparently doing the opposite.

Lots of teams need to go retro and just be done with it, Flames included. Capitals, Sabres, Ducks, Senators, Canucks, and even the Jets come to mind.

Maybe he did, but didn't realize we were mocking him. He thought this was a legitimate suggestion:

The whole aesthetic of the Flames brand is crap and has been for years. The jersey's are obvious..then the dumb "Its Go Time!" tag line they had going on. Who comes up with this crap? Literally nothing they are doing presentationally comes off as high quality or well put together. So much seems tacky. I don't feel like the branding is in good hands at all. You can say its only a jersey but I feel like it reflects poorly on the club. Doesn't really instill a a lot of pride into the fanbase, I imagine even the players to an extent enjoy playing in the retros way more.

They pay very poorly in front office (for non hockey functions), the thinking being that people will take a pay cut for the prestige of working in pro sports. It probably doesn't result in attracting the best people in the long term.

Ken King takes a LOT of heat on this site for what I presume is a decision made by committee. Now, that said, I suspect he's a part of the committee.
I guess what I'm saying is, is that it's not ALL his fault. I'm sure there's a few others to be blamed for basically making the majority of Flames fans' eyes bleed.
