Simulation is an accepted part of football in most parts of the world. It might affect the integrity to some but for most of the world it isn't a big deal. Heck, France's goal in the 06 final was a blatant dive and it didn't effect the integrity of the game in most people's eyes. Even the play by play guys go along with the diving and will describe a play as heinous even if a blatant dive.

I find diving by all teams embarrassing. The Italians look to be rather more willing to do it, or at least more obvious, than most all teams i have watched thus far.
Funny you bring up the commentators though...as they have been hammering on the italians for doing just that.

Well, not going to argue there. I'd imagine that if you know that this will be your one and only shot in your career (which in reality is the case), you'd be pretty amped.

No. You said that diving is not part of the game because it is not in the rulebook. Don't try and change the story now because you are wrong.

Good one. Anyone that doesn't think those teams dive is lying to themselves.

You see just as much diving but you don't see quite as much rolling around. However, the rolling around doesn't really mean much because the ref has already made the call and doesn't judge a play based on the amount of time spent rolling around.
It is called bias. People see what they want to see. Some of the teams at this tourney dive less frequently and the Italians do tend to roll around a fair amount but in terms of dives they are simply average. Some teams do dive less, some dive more. Italy is about average, maybe a little on the dives more than others side of things but certainly not enough to justify saying they embarrass the game. That is just silly.
Right as I type this a NZL player is rolling around like he's been shot. I guess I must be imagining that.

I am guessing you aren't watching the world feed on CBC because on every Italian "dive" the commentator has been very sympathetic.

I guess reading comprehension isn't your strong point. Who said those teams don't dive? It's all a matter of degree. Diving and acting is a shame when anyone does it, but are really trying to say that a team like the English dive and roll around on the same level as the Italians? Where there's smoke there's fire. There's a reason why certain teams earn their reputations.

My reading comprehension is a lot greater than your comprehension of the game. As for the English, check out Steven Gerrard and tell me that they don't dive and roll around. kthxbai

That NZ dive was a shame too. The only different is that you will see them do that once or twice a game. The Italians will do it every 5 minutes. At any rate the acting is lame....it's just that a few teams use it as part of their core strategy.

Except the Italians have only done it once or twice this game and not even close to every 5 minutes. Your comprehension of the game is really poor.
