For an NHL GM? Yes.

Conroy is the younger than two-thirds of GMs, and when you factor in years on the job, one of the least experienced.

how much better is the Boston deal anyway? the prospect is better vs a 2nd rounder. That Leafs pick thing seems to have been false so its likely the Boston 1st from this year or next.

I'm not so sure Vegas will be great next year...they seem to be walking a fine line between good and average lately.

Maybe its the same with every fan base, but it seems with all the "rumours" we get hyped up thinking our assets are worth more than they actually are, which leads to disappointment. Seems to be the trend the last few trades.

Is it?

We heard for weeks that the Flames asking price was the equivelant of two first round picks.

Andersson trade ...

1st
2nd (could become a first)
Player worth at least a 2nd
prospect

Check!

So many players have walked all over this franchise, because of poor management. Conroy is too nice a person, and combined with being a young GM who's still got a lot to learn, has potentially cost us a better return.
Preface - Speculation is a slippery slope both ways.

It has nothing to do with the likelihood that Maloney and Ownership are refusing to allow purely futures trades when values are highest though? If you don't think the mandate Conroy has from ownership is playing a role in holding onto players as long as he is you are kidding yourself. If they aren't doing so, I can almost guarantee there are stipulations that are highly untenable to move players like Andersson a year or two out for Conroy or a suitor.

But wasn't it the case that those with much more knowledge than everyday fans like myself were expecting more, at least soon after the trade was announced? It seemed that after reflection the majority were of the view (bell curve poll result) that Conroy did fine - ie ok but not a home run.

I would think the bell curve would suggest he fulfilled what the ask was ... two first round equivalents.

I think there's always a group that is hoping for more than they'll ever get, but if you were reading the tea leaves they pretty much got what they were asking and maybe a touch more.

Is Whitecloud worth "at least" a 2nd?

He has a cheap contract with 2 years remaining after this season

Played 18 minutes a night with Vegas and 23 minutes with the Flames

I would also think they could get at least a 2nd.

Guessing it more likely Hanley or Pachal are moved. (not for a 2nd obviously)

Coach running it, i assume sutter kept screaming "don't be afraid to
Freestyle boys" over and over. People actually chuckledat it.

This narrative we thwart creative just wvaporated when it was creeping in to my mind.

I mean.. nothing was “fake” the other trades just didn’t happen because Andersson wouldn’t extend.

DET - Danielson and 1st
BOS - Lohrei, Poitras and 1st
VGK - Always around it, golden horseshoe sup their ass.

Just didn’t happen, you can thank Claude if you want to get angry at anyone.

I note that Andersson did not immediately turn around and sign an extension with Vegas, as some predicted. At the moment, I believe, he is serious about wanting to test free agency.

I'm not saying it's likely to happen, but it would be gratifying if Vegas won the Cup this year and gave up two firsts + Whitecloud + Wiebe, only to have Andersson walk in July. (On the other hand, they would have the Stanley Cup to show for it, so I don't imagine they would be crying, either.)

Who was it who said Boston’s actual offer was just Lohrei and a 27 1st?

Not much of a deal tbh. And Danielson was apparently never on the table.

All depending on who you believe.

Its possible for sure.

I think it was over a month before Hanifin signed when he got dealt there... and IIRC at the time he was expected to be there long after his Flames deal expired.

Makes sense though....both player and team likely want to make sure its a good fit.

Man........its stinks but Vegas has a pretty big advantage when it comes to a LOT of players.

I still think its more likely than not, he ends up there long term.

I agree, but to be fair, Hanifin signed his Knights extension 35 days after being acquired.

Going to be extremely interesting how Vegas manages their cap this summer.
