At any rate, I was talking about 2 seasons ago during the off-season when Mangiapane was traded-out. Either way, this wasn't a bad trade. I just don't understand the meltdown, that's all.

How did I melt down lol. There are so many simps on this board for players who cut and run and leave the Flames in a worse position.
So many players have walked all over this franchise, because of poor management. Conroy is too nice a person, and combined with being a young GM who's still got a lot to learn, has potentially cost us a better return.

It also confirms he was offered an extension by Calgary, which someone else disputed.

Even if that's true on Conroy (Flames seemed to be tight-lipped to media about what they offered), Boston offering a very fair deal (I'd say market or just above) should have been enough if he opened up negotiations with them. Was 10 the number?
I mean if he wanted more than 9, I don't know if any club would pay that much in UFA. Maybe Sharks who need D? But then California doesn't have Nevada's favourable tax situation.

People I think set such high expectations on trade returns based on “rumours” that when the actual trade comes through it is a disappointment.

This happens over and over. The Markstrom trade - everyone was talking about Mercer and other guys based on the 'insiders' - then the trade comes out and everyone is ticked. This Rasmus trade -all this talk about Donaldson from Detroit (who Friedman says was never part of it) or two 1sts from Boston, etc.
They made out good on the Markstrom trade and they made out very well on this Rasmus trade, but everyone gets all worked up over randoms on twitter throwing things at the wall with huge offers and gets disappointed when the real trade comes out.
(Not necessarily including the CP insiders in this comment - don't know if they were talking about giant unlikely returns or not)

Funny thing is - Mercer is OK. He's scoring at Coronato's levels this season. But I wouldn't trade Bahl for him right now. Bahl is a much more important player going forward.

Cammy didn't meltdown at all, some of y'all are so high strung that you think any disagreement means the person must be tearing their own hair out and screaming.
I don't disagree with his take. Why do we need to lump praise on Andersson? He was a player, he played for us for a while, and ultimately did us no favors at all. Now he is a player elsewhere, for a rival team even. So hating him seems natural? Maybe hate is too strong a word, but I think actively wishing failure on Andersson and the Vegas Golden Knights is absolutely natural today. Hell, the more failure the better this season. In a dream, they would miss the playoffs and hand us another lottery pick.

You don't think calling him a "smug prick" is a little much?

We both know calling a player a “smug prick” and accusing other posters of “dropping to their knees” for him is objectively weird, overly dramatic behaviour. I don’t think it makes a lot of sense to call people high strung for calling it out lol.

Interesting.
I believe, on the internet, that you have to usually causally dismiss comments like that.
But, isn't he kind of a smug prick? It was just that for so long he was our smug prick. The whole stare down thing is... smug as ####.
Smug.

On the ice he is an agitator yes. Do you really think that's what Cam was talking about?
This is a guy that played well for the team for a long time, under a great contract. His effort on the ice was consistently high. He was a great member of the community and by all reports a great leader in the room.
So it seems immature and unnecessary to now call him a 'smug prick'.

Such a prick forcing all those simps to their knees while he got sent to another team in his last contract year so his team got something in return for him before he explored UFA. So smug that Rasmus.

But have you seen what he's done off the ice. I heard he breaks into Flames fan's homes, drinks their milk and puts the empty carton back in the fridge.

He drinks our milk? We, the fans, who have given him everything he has strictly out of the kindness of our hearts, from our own pockets?
