Going to be an interesting series of weeks with all these knives out and everybody so stabby stabby.

Canada might run out of knives due to all of the great leadership.

If the party rejects him and just choses Freelund...well better luck in 2029.
I don't think anyone can save the Liberal party in this election. But come next election cycle the electorate in a lot of these Western democracies might be thinking oh no we've made a horrible mistake with the current run of populist types winning.

I think the Liberals have dug themselves such a deep hole that the conservatives are going to get more than one term. Most PMs have gotten 2 terms. But Trudeau has at least guaranteed the upcoming election for the Conservatives. He’s the gift that keeps on giving.

Carney? Well lets wait till he releases some policies or even wins the leadership and he still needs to be elected. He has no choice but to pretend to be right of Junior because he is going to have to try real hard to distance himself. But i have my doubts he would ever govern that way.
Until then PP is where it's at.

You've posted more than anyone here since Carney made a video appearance; waiting is a good idea.
This all could be going on for 6 months+, so lots of time for him to show if he's more of the same or different from JT.
PP will also have start talking policies. The anti Trudeau campaign worked wonderfully; but I expect more as we get closer to any actual election & after the new Liberal leader's in place.

Define the center in Canadian politics. What centrist policies do you support?

Lol. Better the guy that we already know what kind of fringe wingnuts he hangs around, rather than the guy who we actually don't know if he is going to be truthful about his promises (that he hasn't made yet).

But you are right Carney is a global economy pro-trade, pro-market guy. Hes the Mulroney era conservative we need right now.

PP does not represent the worker.
Carney is a ship your jobs to China conservative. Just like the rest of them.
Also funny how he's trying to walk back his position on the carbon tax. For years it was 'tax it higher', now its 'well maybe we should reconsider how its applied.'
Hilarious.
Just like him and Freeland trying to act like they didn't support or were part of the Liberal policies the past how many years that led to this mess.
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

100% support this.
In fact I'd just go ahead and do it right now.

Carney might be all well and good but how is he at Ring Toss and if he wins do we all get the giant stuffed bear?

I would do it today.
The dollar is 40% less right now, a 10-20% export tax on all energy applied the day Trump becomes POTUS still gives the US the discount they want, but we start actually benefiting from it.
On the power side, why should we sell our hydro power down south for super cheap rates?
Also, just the talks of tariffs is already negatively affecting Canadian manufacturers shipping stuff south as their American customers are holding back on orders in anticipation of the tariffs.
So as far as I'm concerned, its already begun.

Why stop at those things?
Why not just put an export tariff on everything. And double it.
It will be raining money in Canada.
That'll show em.

This point is interesting because I think just the opposite is happening. Are American companies loading up because they see the tariffs coming and want to get ahead?

So at what point does PP actually get a security clearance? Will he wait until after the election?
