Baseball is a game of statistics. If you give a team 3 outs per inning, they will score about 5 runs per game. If you give them 5 outs in an inning, they'll probably score more. 37 pitches will tire a guy out, and he's more likely to make a mistake or get squared up. Blaming the pitcher for that, when he didn't deserve to be in that position, is missing the plot.
