There are plenty of states there are very few restrictions. That wouldn't be a stretch.

I thought his post was pretty clear, he was just stating that in a presidency that looks to be on the road to disaster, attacking LGBT rights will certainly get the fire raging to a full burn.

Large scale discontent within the State Department over the Muslim ban. I expect these guys were just missed in the initial purge and will be fired/dismissed by Trump shortly.

Quote:
Dozens of State Department officials are expected to sign a memo opposing President Trump’s executive order suspending immigration from seven majority-Muslim countries, activating the famous “Dissent Channel,” which diplomats have used for decades, to oppose what they see as wrongheaded policies put forth by the Trump White House.

“A policy which closes our doors to over 200 million legitimate travelers in the hopes of preventing a small number of travelers who intend to harm Americans from using the visa system to enter the United States will not achieve its aim of making our country safer,” reads a draft of the Dissent Channel memo, which I obtained. “Moreover, such a policy runs counter to core American values of nondiscrimination, fair play, and extending a warm welcome to foreign visitors and immigrants.”

The memo focuses on Section 3 of the executive order Trump signed Jan. 27, which temporarily suspends the issuance of visas and other immigration benefits for citizens from Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. As of Monday morning, edits and signatures were still being collected in advance of submitting the memo to State Department leadership.

The memo argues that the executive order is poorly conceived and poorly drafted and that its implementation will damage U.S. relationships with Muslim countries, U.S. standing in the Muslim world and the U.S. fight against terrorism and radicalization both at home and abroad. The diplomats point out that “a vanishingly small number” of terrorist attacks on U.S. soil have been committed by terrorists coming from abroad on a visa, and in those cases, they came from countries not covered by the executive order.

Unfortunately it might very well work. Keep the turmoil going so that people will just tired of the outrage that doesn't bring results. (Because mostly the backlash doesn't do much at least in a short time). That will most likely lead to various reactions that are all very welcome by the White House.

- Violent outbursts which allow the government to start arresting people and serious crackdowns of opposition

- People trying to get some peace back into their lives by tuning out the news and filtering their social media into something more "peaceful".

- People just getting used to this being the way it is now.

I just dont get this.

"We have to take rights away from Homosexuals!!"

Why? To what end? Who benefits from persecuting homosexuals?

Their penchant for parading notwithstanding they are among the least offensive demographics of individuals around.

Come on...first its the Muslims and now its the homosexuals? What year is this?

Exactly this.

How does a gay conversion proponent end up in the VP Chair? Because the GOP has a standing opposition to anything gay.

This was always going to happen with a GOP ticket. It always does.

Quote:
WASHINGTON, Feb. 24 — President Bush said today he supported a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, declaring that such a measure was the only way to protect the status of marriage between man and woman, which he called "the most fundamental institution of civilization."

In an announcement fraught with social, legal and political implications, Mr. Bush urged Congress to act on the amendment quickly and send it on to the state legislatures. Quick action is essential, he said, to bring clarity to the law and protect husband-and-wife marriages from a few "activist judges."

"The voice of the people must be heard," Mr. Bush said in a brief White House speech that Senator John F. Kerry of Massachusetts, the front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination, called an attempt to find "a wedge issue to divide the American people."

Pence's anti-lbgtq history is well documented. I thought that this was one area that Trump was actually on the right side of during the election cycle though.

And to see how far law enforcement will go obeying their orders, violating the constitution. Then the coup is full on.

Bannon told him to persecute the gays.
Bannon is quite the anti-gay, so makes sense that Trump will be too.

At this point it's sort of becoming a grey area when talking about the US or Russia.

I'm speaking more to what I'm seeing in conversations with non-internet people and social media outside of this thread.

This seems to be the real challenge in analyzing the day to day events of the Trumps presidency. Right or wrong, what was going to happen anyways under a GOP administration vs what is happening under the Trump/Bannon/Kushner White House. Its a blurred line that is tough to decipher.

I don't expect Trump to actually stop making stupid decisions, but I think at some point he'll probably try avoiding looking like a fool while he does it.
