Isn’t a bad top 6. Could maybe use another 4/5 to push Klingberg down

Depends on how much Askarov and Ned can give you. I haven't watched them enough to know if their stats are because of bad team D or medicre goaltending.
I actually don't think that is a very good top 6 D though. And would they have Dickinson or is he part of the return?
I don't like the Sharks bottom 6 forward group much either - and the top 6 depends on kids who might need a couple PO runs before they can perform well.

Because there are no trades that are happening for the Flames. The only player that might get traded is Andersson and that is it.
Sorry to get your hopes up, no rebuilding trades are coming it seems lol.

TBF, I've outed myself - it's not hard to know who I am and what I do. But I'm the only lawyer here who gets this kind of crap, and I don't notice anyone else who's profession is known getting similar stuff either. The closest is when Bingo gets snide comments about being the owner.

You think they will trade Rasmus for players that are the same age or older than him?

I don't understand why this is so difficult. To me it is clear they have a direction, they just being patient to get the best value for their players this year. They are on track to have the same number of picks in the first 3 round like Chicago and San Jose over a 4 year span.
Sure they are on a bit of a run in December, but once they start subtracting a few players a stretch like October is not out of the question. I strongly feel that they will be finishing at or near the bottom when all is said.

A direction implies intent.
Conroy did not want to trade 7 veterans in his first season as a GM. The trading of 7 veterans reflects the number of players on expiring deals and Conroy's inability to extend them, not a planned direction to rebuild.
Conroy did not want to sit on the assets and cap space. By his own admission he attempted to take "big swings" last summer. The cap space reflects the difficulty in making trades when trying to find moves that support winning both now and in the future, not a planned direction to rebuild.
If taking almost no action in almost 2 years, while relying on a veteran core to keep us in the middle of the pack, is an intentional direction then we have bigger problems then a lack of a commited direction.

You know how you build a winning culture? Being a good team and winning playoff games. You know which team has not been winning playoff series for 20 years now? The Calgary Flames.
|
They are trying to build a culture.
If you do not believe that culture and commitment are important to team success and developing players to their full potential that is up to you.
Teams change and cultures change. 20 years has ZERO to do with what Conroy is currently trying to build.

Crazy to think from 2022-2025 Chicago has made 11 1st round picks, and they also have another 2 so far for 2026

The Sharks tanked for years and had a "losing culture". Now that they got some great pieces and are winning, they have a "winning culture".
The best way to get a winning culture is to get some elite players and start winning. I am not big into the culture thing. I think it's a point people make to try to defend a mediocre team and tell themselves at least the culture is good.

Was Markstrom an expiring deal? Did Conroy have an inability to extend players or did he just make a choice versus extending versus trading?
Big swings? The only big name player I ever heard about was Rantanen and that was a kicking tires type of inquiry. And rebuild or not, you'd be dumb not to see what the price was for a Rantanen.

I get it, however the same talk day after day… like the saying “beat a dead horse” this horse has died of starvation, been picked apart by coyotes, birds, and the backed over by the tractor 15 times before being beaten.

They don’t have the Makar that Avs had coming in from college, but I think the 6 with Ras could at least make it a good series. Maybe adding someone like a Logan Stanley for some bite. And no I’d have a return being something around a 1st and Musty

Yes, Locke has never been teased for flying his accountant helicopter around, MMFs full name was outed a few weeks ish ago, hell I’ve said what my profession is in here numerous times.
I also have 0 clue who you are or if you even are a lawyer. I don’t care, at all. Maybe you get roasted for your job because you’ve tried to win arguments by saying you’re a lawyer. To do that and then play the victim is certainly an interesting stance. PS I thought you were not going to respond to me anymore.

I actually only get it from maybe two people and only one recently, but it's offside to question someone's professional standing.
I have no idea who is an accountant here, but if I knew I wouldn't suggest they are crappy at their job.

I've never once tried to win an argument by claiming I'm a lawyer. The post you think did that was in response to you saying I had a learning disability or was just stupid, to which i responded that if that was the case, I'd fooled a lot of people and institutions.
Perhaps you can point to a post where I used being a lawyer to "win an argument". Otherwise, STFU.

LeBrun and Johnston playing trade matchmakers on the Athletic today. They picked potential destinations for Coleman. LeBrun said Tampa, Johnston said Dallas.
