There are videos from 20-30 years ago where Trump talks about what he would do if he was president, and one of the things was putting tariffs on everything. Way before fentanyl was an issue anywhere.

Why dont you provide the evidence that they didnt? You said there were no agreed upon goals, so, whered you get that from?

"Pics or it never happened"? Honestly is that what you are suggesting here?
You are assuming that they never asked for specific actions because there isnt video proof? Really?? I mean its obvious where you lean on the Trudeau thing but you probably need to check yourself if you really believe that question wasnt the first one out of Trudeau or any Cdn govt representatives mouth, multiple times and in multiple meetings.

If there were agreed upon goals, then we would know if we achieved them or not. And it wouldn't be this big mystery leading up to the tariffs if they were going to be applied or not. If I was negotiating these goals would be very public and everyone would know the specifics, so if a certain orange somebody didn't hold up their side of the bargain it would be completely obvious.

From my point of view, Trudeau is completely incompetent. Basically if you want something to fail, you put Trudeau in charge, guaranteed disaster, voila here we are.

Maybe Danielle Smith and Kevin O'Leary should have asked for specifics when they travelled to his compound and met him in person and then reported back to the rest of Canadians. That's what I would have done.

Why does everyone always give Trudeau a pass and never hold him responsible for anything. This is a federal issue, and Doug Ford seems to be making the most progress.

Trudeau has been awesome since he stepped down, and has been awesome during this entire tariff disaster. Angry Trudeau is best Trudeau.

You are assuming that the Americans are negotiating in good faith and have clearly defined goals and concessions they are trying to secure. You can’t extract an agreed upon vision if the other party doesn’t have one or doesn’t have one they want to share. If you take the public comments at face value then Canada is negotiating with a president who wants to annex Canada and is using fentanyl as an excuse.

He has been surprisingly good and PP has been as bad as expected because he is still afraid of pissing off the far right of his base.

Nice to see you are using logic and reason to inform your opinion on this. Not clouded or biased judgment at all.

I think you're mistaking "doesn't criticize Trudeau for absolutely everything including the stuff he's not responsible for" to "giving him a pass". Just a reminder, you also wrote:

You're going to have to explain that with a rational analysis then. Go ahead, I'm all ears.

Well, Trudeau runs and hides from conflict, he spent almost all of February in Europe hiding from Trump instead of focusing on the trade war. His only job experience is Drama teacher, thus his acting ability. You know he doesn't write his own speeches right?

My discussion with my mom went something like this:
"The reason for the tariffs keeps changing every day, it doesn't make any sense"
"It's the fentanyl flooding the border"
"Less than 1% of fentanyl seized at the border comes from Canada.. less than 1kg of it in January"
"That's false, who said that it was that much?"
"Trump's administration"
"I don't believe it."

Come on guy. I doubt many people around here love Trudeau, but he's handled this situation in the best way possible.
Make no mistake, there is ONE person at fault for all this, and it is not the Canadian PM.

I'd be interested in knowing what Trudeau did that deserves this praise? How did he handle it? It seems like a total mess to me, a list of counter tariffs is all he did, and that is pretty pointless. And he did that before he left to Europe for a month to give away more of our money.
