But overall you're right, the roads are brutal, the conditions change constantly. Drive well fellow Arctic Residents!

RWD on winters here. I attempted to run some errands but turned around within 5 mins. If anything this snow makes for great snowballs.

Yeah the roads seemed... unusually bad given the amount of snow which wasn't actually that bad. I was totally fine with FWD and winters but man you can really tell when people don't have winters and take 10 minutes to get moving at an intersection.

I became unstuck going around a corner (very slowly). I managed to get the wheel back to straight before hopping the curb. Got lucky, could have done some serious damage. This was at the COP McDonald’s on our way to Nakiska, my wife nope outta that idea after that. Too bad was looking fwd to skiing today. I think it’s best I get some new tires

Lol. That is not me.

Plus, I wouldn’t be caught dead running (or living for that matter) in that suburban hellscape.

Enjoy a wholly different kind of slip sliding now that you don't have to be in your vehicle.

Thanks man! Yeah I figured, hence why I wanted to write something before the shenanigans begin and I forget. CP's the best...yeah that country back road route it had me on until Red Deer was pretty bonkers at times.

Whyte Ave ahoy, even brought my Flames tee to balance out her gross Oilers toque haha. Enjoy the weekend wintery wonderland fellas! Feels even colder up here, and too Edmontoney...its a problem that I need to drink away right now.

AWD Turbo with X-Ice tires makes this the most fun weather to drive in, if you can avoid the strugglers . Took my wife's nephew from Vietnam who's never seen weather like this for a drive and he was holding on for dear life

Also my cordless snowblower more than paid for itself today, ended up using it 3 times on my driveway alone today and then this evening helped my older neighbor out since she was away from home all day. Her driveway had almost 2 feet of snow in it, I was very impressed my base model Ryobi handled it with no issue

You dun goofed son...when you go visit him in Vietnam he's going to make you ride on a Moped in their rush hour traffic.

Turnabout is fair play!

Today I determined that my current set of winters were good up until last winter.

I finished up a 24 day shift and project at the same time, east of Edmonton today and I was bound and determined to make it home. Woof there's a lot of snow here. I ended up taking the 2A from Olds down and it was sketchy AF near Carstairs. I've avoided bad roads going back and forth to Edmonton area this entire project until today, but figures the project would give me one last middle finger to end today with crappy weather.

My summers were shot as were my winters. Picked the best two winters and put them on the rear (FWD) and bought two new all seasons for the front.

Have way more traction now than I had last winter on my winters.

What made you put the new winters on the front? Didn’t you want more grip for starts in the front? Or were you trying to avoid rear swings when cornering or turning, thus putting the grippier tires on the back.

The winters are shot, thus putting them on the back. I put the new all seasons on the front for the reasons you suggest.

I only have one set of rims for this car, back when I had an AWD Acura, I bought alloys for my winters. This car came with summers and winters but one set of rims.

If I had AWD I probably would have bought 4 new winters and smaller rims.

Too late, I love bombing around on mopeds in Asia. First time riding in Saigon was a little intimidating at first, but once you get into the flow of traffic it's easy, and WAY faster than trying to drive a car. I also learned very quickly the optimal way to transport a case of beer

I am thankful for my neighbour who was itching to use his snowblower as he cleared my driveway twice today.

Really stunning how much snow fell. Hopping ,y plans to go to lake Louise on Sunday happen and hoping they got some of this snow.

Didn't look like much fell on the mountains based on the radar I looked at.

Also protip for those of you that have a snowblower. Spray the impeller and chute with non-stick cooking spray. It will help the wet snow not clog up the works.

FWIW best tires are always recommend to go on the rear. Arguably you did this, as a freezing cold all season in ice is p likely worse than a worn winter (assuming there’s actually tread still).
