On an international scale, Trump terrifies me.
As a woman who fiercely believes in the rights of the LGBT community, Pence worries me just as much, if not more. And he's going to have a House and Senate full of men just like him who are going to be all too happy to infringe on the rights of women and gay people.
Also Toomey just won re-election in Pennsylvania, because I didn't loathe my state enough.

It is a message board after all.

Sure but it kinda sucks that you make a volunteer mod waste his time addressing your concerns. Concerns which he already addressed earlier in the other election thread. Concerns that aren't really any of your business to be honest.

Pence is a survivable event. Despite disagreeing with him on every social issue, his downside risk if he were de facto president is nowhere near what Trump's is. The chance of a Pence presidency leading to tens of millions of dead people (if not worse) is basically zero.

I don't think Bernie would have beaten Trump. I don't think enough of the "protest" vote existed to offset the people towards the center he would have lost.

I don't recall many times where he insulted people, if ever. Would it surprise me if he was so offensive to be banned? Yes, absolutely. Was a mod insulted? Possibly, does that mean he should have been banned? No, I don't think so. So I'm just curious that, in light of the fact that he was actually correct in his opinions about this election and as revealed by tonight... is it fair to unban him?
This site is better with Peter around and I suspect that if he knew he would have insulted a mod to the degree it appears he did, knowing him (and I actually do know him but don't know what he was banned for), he would absolutely apologize.

One of his last hooras was accusing all of cp as not being able to read. No idea how far it went beyond that though.

Lots of good choices. Trump will be a one term POTUS.

Kaine? Not sure about that one.
But I always thought Newsome would be a decent candidate. There are some decent young GOP candidates on the radar too.

It still doesn't feel real, but it'll definitely feel pretty ####ing real when I check the dollar and my portfolio tomorrow. Usually does a good job snapping back into reality.

This is literally the worst thing I've seen in my country in my lifetime. I don't know how we come back from this. The GOP rigged this thing for the last decade--gerrymandering districts, dismantling voters' rights, pushing ridiculous voter ID laws, convincing constituents that a legislature that refuses to do its job is the President's fault.
With them in power, how the hell is any of that going to change? With a heavily conservative SCOTUS, how is any progress going to be made?
I am disgusted by my country right now.
|
Maybe the progress you have been sold isn't all it's cracked up to be. I don't see how you can claim that the GOP rigged it, almost all the evidence points to the contrary. What on earth is the argument against voter ID laws, what wanting a fair electoral process?
Hopefully the constitution gets held up and a return to good wholesome American values, free of government and corporate collusion. You know the return of the America that at one point was the light that all other countries took their ques from. With concepts such as free market capitalism and personal freedoms, the American dream. I find it alarming that you seem to be in favor of legislating away freedoms you currently have, in favor of a nanny state of bureacrats that will just line their pockets.
I would say 911 was much worse, then the candidate that wasn't your preference winning a democratic election. Come on dude, it really isn't that bad. You are an American, not born in sub Saharan Africa.

Please. Trump caved like a little bitch when he had to deal with the Mexican president in person. How do you think he's going to handle Putin?
This is legitimately horrifying. Itse, enjoy living in Finland bro.
