It’s great to see the Flames win. Tonight reminds me of why I want the Flames to have a high pick this year. I want the Flames to have an elite team that can contend for the Stanley Cup, be a real winner.

I think they went 110 points and a conference final, then 107 and lost to NJD in 7, and then a presidents trophy and 114 points and another conference final.

If that not a contender than nothing is.

Issue was Lafreniere and Kakko both didn't develop into anything, and then Drury lost his mind and tore apart a locker room for no reason.

This has certainly been a throwback to 2021-2023 Backman

Rangers are also a good case study in how not every draft year is the same. They bottomed out in similar fashion to the Oilers initial bottoming.

RNH, Yakupov, and to a lesser degree Hall.

Kakko and Lafreinier.

Not all years are equal.

Puts even more emphasis on why this is the year the Flames should bottom out. This year isn't one of THOSE years.

Jumpin' Wolf.

Making top tier saves look like nothing.

Yeah, the fans have been giving it to Fox all night. Quality stuff.

Maybe Dino was right and we just played all the good teams so far.

I don't see us coming last.

It didn't work because their star picks didn't develop. Which is my point. They just never felt like a team that could win a Cup to me. They had too much inconsistency between seasons to seem like a perennial contender. They lost in the first round or were out of the POs as much as they advanced.

Lafrenière looked awful tonight.
