Sorry team tank!
Flames would have to play as an elite team the rest of the year for there to even be a small chance.

.632 hockey gets them to 96 points.

Possible considering the hardest part of the schedule is behind them.

I don't want 96. Look where it got us last year.

100+ point team or lottery for me.

Reminder that the Rangers announced a rebuild in February 2018. They proceeded to draft three times in the first round that year. The next year they drafted second overall and the year after that first overall (and 19th as well).

It doesn't always work.

How many teams played .632 hockey last year?

Last year? 6 teams.

Is it impossible? Of course not.

Is it likely? Of course not.

Is it the smart way to manage a team of this quality? Good grief, no.

Isn't it weird how they look so much better when they're not playing against a Stanley Cup favourite every night?

Flames could easily have 4 wins heading into tonight.

The question then is, what is your intention?

Win a Stanley Cup? Or be a bubble team? What's the target?

The Flames could much more easily have 0 wins heading into tonight if not for Stuart Skinner.

What's a more important indicator? Beating a bad team, or being 1-7-1 against good teams?

They won the presidents' trophy in 2024. They didn't Buffalo it.

The downfall was tinkering with the roster after being the best regular season team. Shouldn't have messed with a good thing.

Just enjoy the wins when they come because they're not going to come that often this season.

It goes both ways...flames have had one game this year that wasnt a one goal game in the third

They were never a contender in all that time in my opinion, despite the president's trophy a year before they missed the POs

That's the league though. The difference between top teams and lesser teams is that 1 goal.

It's incredibly difficult (getting moreso) to obtain the talent that makes up the difference between being a good team and being a bad/mediocre team. There's very little in the way of trades, very few impact players make it to free agency.

Backlund and Coleman just dominated tonight. My goodness. May be their best games in a long, long time. Top notch.
