Don't they keep a couple spots in case they can bring over a couple of guys who lose in rd2?

This is my guess for Canada’s forward lines. (position, shoots, regular season points 2025)
MACKINNON(C,R,116) - CROSBY(C,L,91) - KONECNY (RW,R,76)
JOHNSON(C,L,57) - CELEBRINI(C,L,63) - FANTILLI(C,L,54)
DANAULT(C,L,43) - O’REILLY(C,L,53) - HORVAT(C,L,57)
CUYLLE(LW,L,45) - HAYTON(C,L,46) - FOERSTER (RW,R,43)
MacKinnon and Crosby of course are together and then with Konecny as the best RW in the selected roster, as well as being on the 4nation face off team
Second line is all young skilled players centered by Celebrini
Third line is experienced players who will compete against other nations top lines
Fourth line is everyone else remaining
This is how I thought about assembling the lines. I’d love to hear someone else’s line combinations if you have any and how you chose them!

Team Canada Stacked. That would be a decent Olympic roster with another top Goalie.

Apparently Parekh has gone home as per Gilbertson:
Prized defence prospect Zayne Parekh played two pre-tournament games with Canada but has since returned home, which was always the plan when he was invited for the exhibition portion.

Looks like Klapka was scratched for Czechia first game vs Switzerland. The coach likely doesn't know what he has there.

Best roster I can remember in a long time. Funny what happens when a superstar or two gets onboard.

With Schenn joining the team, I’d slot him onto the 2nd line and bump Fantili down to #4 C.

HAYTON (C,L) - FANTILLI(C,L,54) - FOERSTER (RW,R,43)
SANHEIM (L) - WEEGAR (R)

I wonder if the fallout from the 4 Nations and the Olympics coming up has something to do with it. No doubt a lot of those guys really enjoyed playing together and are looking to keep it going into the Olympics.

Short tourny so you always pick existing chemistry, which Fantilli-Johnson built well this year. I think you throw Schenn on O'Reilly's wing (also former teammates) and have Danault carry the 4th line.

I actually feel like Parekh should still be there. Spurgeon is not that great. Also kind of surprised Power wasn't asked/ isnt there. I feel like he's a big piece for Canada's LD going forward.

not expecting another miracle for Austria, given we're missing our best forward (Rossi) and our most promising defenseman (Reinbacher) ... and the important games are to come later in the tournament (against France and Slovenia), but being a goalie interference review away from tying it up against Finland with 5 minutes left to go is not bad at all.

Spurgeon is a great player, just can never stay healthy. He's also a LOT more experienced than Parekh, and that's fine that he's playing ahead of him at this point. Parekh got some reps at this level, which is more than a lot of players at his point in development get on Team Canada. He'll get plenty of opportunities in the future.

Good opportunity for Parekh to get in front of Hockey Canada too. Obviously 2026 olympics is not going to happen, but World Championships and possibly 2030 olympics are possible!
