You called that weeks ago didn’t you shermanator for who you hoped it would be
It's an impressive resume for this level, could be (and hopefully will be!) a huge signing

Ya, when he signed for Erfurt a couple years ago it just felt like he had peaked in Germany and that maybe coming home was the right move.
He was pretty key piece for Ingolstadt when they were promoted to the 2. Liga and for whatever reason (guessing injury) he missed that whole season. I have seen him mostly play on the wing but I think he can slot in anywhere in the front 4. Will probably be depth to start as he's new to the team but I think he can immediately fill in if there is an injury.
Playing internationally for St. Lucia means he will miss some time but I think it's cool to see CPL players play internationally. Was with the MNT in 2017 during Zambrano's last camp where we played terribly and lost 2-0 to El Salvador.
Next up, Scott Kennedy. Please.

Surprised that we haven’t seen or heard anything about the schedule (or schedule drop date) yet

I actually know something about this! I was told that the delayed CFL schedule release pushed out the CPL schedule release. I know last week teams were given some dates (if not an entire preliminary schedule) so there might be some last jockeying of dates and I assume the schedule will be released pretty soon

I really like this signing. I think Elva could be a real impact player in this league as he has the kind of attacking profile of players who've been successful. I can see him lining up as a second striker behind Warschewski or in the #10 role if Camargo isn't available. He hasn't played club soccer in a 7 or 8 months so it might take him some time to get back up to speed but I think he's going to be an impact player for us.
I really like the way our midfield and attack is shaping up. I don't think another CF would hurt as Warschewski is really the only natural fit we have there other than Chanda. If we can land a stud CB, we'll be in good shape heading into the season.

It is definitely a bit later than usual. I wonder if the CFL thing delayed it a bit (but that's been released for a few weeks now), and now they're just waiting to make a bit of a buzz during Concacaf week vs. a standalone announcement.
It is super nerdy, but I get a lot of satisfaction from entering the schedule into my calendar.

Was chatting with Tommy last night about how they're approaching this game from a tactical standpoint. Not gonna share it publicly, but feel free to PM if you're curious. Nothing earth shattering, but just something to watch.
They want to slow the game down, particularly in the first few minutes. He's also excited that snow is in the forecast...thinks it'll be favourable for them.

As a guy going to that game, I'm less enthused about the cold weather and snow.

May your sacrifice be rewarded, brave Slava.
But honestly, Victoria snow is different. Wetter and chills to the bone. Perfect for visiting Mexicans. Tiny black gloves ain't going to help.

Objectively what's a good result for us. 5-1 on the aggregate?

Pumas are 1.45 to win and Cavalry are 6.00.
A win would be a pretty big upset but not earth shattering.
I'm used to my teams being underdogs so lets gooooo

Better than 6-1 on aggregate and I'm happy.
I'd say a 1 goal loss on Thursday would be a great result. Not sure how strong a squad Pumas will be bringing to Victoria. For the away leg, just don't get embarrassed.

I’d like a goal and leaving Victoria with a chance. Give yourself something to play for in the second leg no matter how small the chance!
Cold and snowy in Victoria. Weather can be the great equalizer

Sounds like there will be an announcement about the salary cap for 2025 shortly.
Quote:
JH: Okay. I did want to ask about the salary cap increase as well; the commissioner has alluded to it but I don’t think there’s been a formal announcement. At what point, as a league, are you able to communicate those changes with the clubs so they know ahead of time where they sit?
CS: This happens well in advance. Obviously, there’ll be a public announcement coming shortly in terms of the 2025 season but a lot of times these are done a year in advance. The big picture planning parameters are put in well in advance so that everyone can properly manage their rosters.
