Maybe. Toffoli, Lindholm, Kadri, Dube, Mangiapane...they have guys that can finish.
I dont think they are an elite finishing team but they generate more than enough volume to overcome it.
This is coming into tonight:
I honestly don't think that the Medium Danger Shooting percentage being down 2.27% year over year is some indicator that the team lacks skill. Part of it skill, but luck is a big factor too.
Same thing with goaltending. Markstrom has taken a step back this year - but I don't think the 4% drop in medium danger save percentage is all him and Vladar declining either. (and ive probably been his most vocal detractor all season).
Im at the point where I almost just sit back and laugh.
The underlying shot rates are almost identical year over year. The team is still elite when it comes to advanced metrics and expected goal stats. Hell they ran the best team in the league out of the building tonight.
But there is just some bad voodoo around this team going back to last years playoffs. They almost got out goaltended by one of the greatest goalie performances ever in round 1 (and couldnt finish) and then their own goaltending turned into a pumpkin in round 2.
And now this year it just happens that the issue from each playoff round (finishing in round 1 , goaltending in round 2) have decided to stick around all year.
