So what I gather is everyone wants to go home except for Calgary-born players.
The way she goes.

Any further moves require the Flames to move $$ (after factoring in presumptive contracts for Mangiapane and Kylington). So we'll see.

Ya I would not worry until 20 games into the season without a contract. Until then I think it is possible he signs or is traded for assets. If he gets a quarter of the way through the season, Sutter will have the team competing for first in the West. Then it becomes very difficult to trade him, as I have a hard time thinking Sutter is agreeable to a trade at all then, unless it is for immediate assets.

Huberdeau looks like he was using Zoom from his phone across the table, he probably can't see faces.
Him and his agent knows he has to cash in his 115 point season, just give him the Gaudreau contract.

Is that better than looking to his right though? That is my question.

That's what I meant though, there has to be trades coming. There is a logjam on D. I didn't mean UFA's, I meant I think there is a trade or two coming yet.

This is where we're at. We are a paranoid bunch of fans.
Most hockey players aren't the greatest public speakers and zoom calls are kind of awkward anyway.

Actually watching prior interviews of Huberdeau confirms this. People need to throttle down with over analyzing the guy.

Maybe if we keep asking him the same ridiculous question 2 days after being unexpectedly traded, he'll eventually change his answer.

It depends if he was facing North or south. If looking right meant he was looking towards Montreal then it’s 100% a fact that he’s not signing with us.

But if he was in Montreal, everywhere he looks is Montreal...
####, we're screwed.

It doesn’t mean he won’t be open to it, just that he doesn’t really have a concrete answer yet. Which is understandable considering all this is new and has likely been a head spinning few days for him.
|
Could also mean that he's made up his mind about it, but doesn't want to tip his hand about it either.
If he's already decided to re-sign, he has to keep that quiet to get Calgary to up their offer. If he's decided to move in on, he has to keep that quiet too, to ensure he continues to get the best opportunities

He hasn’t even arrived in Calgary yet and people are expecting him to have already locked into an 8 year contract.
We’re all a little sensitive right now, but it’s going to be okay. It’s a big decision for these players and they don’t owe us anything (and I’m quite certain both will be locked up).

I think we all need to accept that both these players were not expecting to be here (doesn't mean good or bad) before the weekend. They are good players, on a good team, they often don't get traded. So they are surprised. We also need to accept that that means they haven't spent a tone of time thinking about their next contracts being in Calgary. Doesn't mean they aren't open to it, but we are going to have to bite the bullet as fans that the disarray Gaurdreau and Chucky sent us into isn't going to wrap up over night. This trade made by BT this past weekend is a very positive step in teh right direction, but still many more to come, and many ways this could end (many of them being positive for us).
Every player manages this type of stuff differently. But for the folks topping up with their body language expertise, would it not be fair to say, that a more "negative" body language reaction (like the one above described on Huberdeau), could and likely is related to that being the toughest question to answer? They are aware given everything that happened here, it's what all the fans want to know. It's a hard question, when the real answer is, "this is all new, I haven't even really thought about it yet, but I want to play somewhere that wants me, and I want to cash in....."
That's going to drive crossed arms, eye movement and a lot of, how do I answer this to as genuinely as I can without potentially scaring my new fans for no reason, and also not showing my new GM my entire hand as I may want to negotiate a good deal?

Doesnt mean anything. Lets say tomorrow you get forced to take a job in some random mid west city. Your shocked, you spent your whole adult life some where else. Then someone asks you a day after that do you want to sign for the rest of your career. You only been there once for the Stampede and you never played with any one on the team but Weegar. I think anyone would want to feel it out a bit to see if they like the guys on the team and the environment first. Its not like the Flames are the Avs and you know instantly you are a favorite to win the cup for the next 5 yrs.
