Good luck , Johnny Gaudreau. What ahell 9f a player.

That is too dramatic. An unfathomably difficult decision is life and death, dealing with troubled family members.

This is an important decision but one for which he has had plenty of time to prepare. Perhaps the brinksmanship displayed by both sides was to no one’s advantage though.

Im guessing he already has a destination in mind and that team already knows it.

They wont give up an asset in such circumstances.

Yup, totally this. He honoured his end of the bargain. He could have become a free agent after college. He could have become one a couple of years ago, but signed for extra years. We are lucky that he was classy guy the whole time he was a Flame. This really sucks, but I wish him the best, except for when he plays the Flames.

This was always going to happen eventually. The writing on the wall was clear. Just sucks that it did eventually come to fruition.

Fox, Johnny, Tkachuk…

Two top line wingers and a number 1 defensemen all drafted by the Flames, and all wanting out within 5 years of each other.

Delightful.

Unpopular but I have no issues cheering the Devils on if he winds up there. Fun team. If its the Flyers? Nope.

Malkin would look pretty good as a #1 center on the flames.

We just don’t know that, do we?

Maybe he told Tre long ago he was making a move.

We simply don’t really know sweet fa

This is why we could have used a good ol Canadian boy in Shane Wright

Treliving should not have a job in the NHL, fire the guy into the sun and tank it up baby.

Slide Lindy over to RW. Convince chucky to stay and have him on the top LW.

Statistically, over those 8 seasons, you'd expect the flames to make it to the playoffs 4 times and get to the second round twice and get out of the second round once.

So pretty average...

It was always in the back of my mind, cool.. we'll get 2-3 good years out of a 10-11 million dollar contract, but it will be a boat anchor for at least 1/2 the remainder. In all likelihood, we will have his career year on the books, as a Calgary Flame.

Yeah, the Flames got nothing in return, but they did get him on the cheap and incredible value, for the vast majority of his time here.

Good luck Johnny.

With Johnny walking, so too did our top end FA recruitment, which would be predicated on chances of winning a cup.

Imo that ship has sailed and you’re left with overpaying the playoff performers.

Not surprising at all. It seems this is mostly about family with Johnny, which is fine. And unfortunately Calgary just isn’t one of those sexy destinations where guys want to spend the rest of their careers. Time for Tre to implement plan B, whatever that is.
