I saw Oiler fans say they live rent free because we chuckle about their overreaction to a Flames win. I am not sure how that is living rent free? We take enjoyment out of our rivals mental gymnastics to justify why the Flames are a better team despite no 1st overalls or multiple years of tanking.
If they don’t want to comment on our wins then stay quiet.

Ever since Edmonton was named as Alberta's capital city as a political favour from the federal Liberal government to the politically liberal (at the time) city up north, there has been a bitter rivalry between Calgary and Edmonton. This played out for decades in many ways, but particularly in rivalries between sports teams. For the better part of a decade, Calgary and Edmonton had the two best teams in the NHL and in the CFL, and games between them became much more than games. The players hated one another, the coaches hated one another, the media hated one another, and the fans hated one another. For many years, no other rivalry in sport could hold a candle to the Battle of Alberta.
Filled with arrogance, Edmonton declared itself the "City of Champions" and subsequently embarked on its amazing journey to no-goodness. In the quagmire of Edmonton's no-goodness, the intensity of the rivalry couldn't be maintained, and for decades, the Battle of Alberta lost its true meaning. Now, with the press' constant insistence that the Oilers are again Stanley Cup contenders, the rivalry is experiencing a resurgence.
Not having a natural in-province city of comparable size, the intensity of this rivalry is something someone living in Vancouver may not appreciate. But it's there. And it means something; it's a part of our identity as Calgarians. We would love to win the Stanley Cup, but nothing would make that win sweeter than to stomp on the arrogant Oilers' dreams on the way to that victory.

I'll never not be surprised when I hear that Kyle Turris is still in the NHL.
Granted, if not for the Oilers he probably wouldnt be.

McDavid always gets up for the Flames. And honestly I wonder why. He doesn’t seem particularly vested in the Oilers. Or Edmonton.

Half of enjoyment of Flames victory post game threads are from Gaskal's ATL reports, so yah, that's a pretty accurate statement. I got almost as much enjoyment out of the Carolina and Boston cup wins as I would have if the Flames were to win the cup.

Looking forward to seeing what Ruzicka can do with Eatbread and Toffoli, if Sutter does indeed go with that combo. After being scratched recently, I expect him to perform well...he's shown flashes of strong and creative play in earlier appearances.
Interesting in Sutter's presser he said that of the four guys on our team having big years points-wise, three of them have rounded out their games in terms of what it takes to win, more than just putting up points. So, that leaves one guy who hasn't in his mind...Mangy, I suppose?

I believe he was referring to Lindholm, who was already a well-rounded player.

I hope one of the mutants has a chance to rub out McDavid or Draisaitl like they did on Kadri. Their media would be in tears.

To me anything less then a blowout would be a little disappointing. Its time to leave no doubt, put another Nail in the Oilers coffin and leave their corpse behind for the buzzards. Its time to rip their stinking guts out and be done with this pretend world that the Oilers are an elite team if not for their goaltending and expose the fact that the Oilers are worse then fetid cheese left outside for a week.
A extra bonus would be a super pissy Leon and McDavid in the post game.

That is because Connor McDavid is jealous of the Calgary Flames.

Does it with players too. It's been much better the last few games, but I think it'll take a while until Sutter has redeveloped tolerance for her

Philly/Pittsburgh is pretty intense. The Rangers/Islanders rivalry are another. Montreal/Quebec was legendary.
Ottawa/Toronto oddly isn't.

Funny that Tkachuk mentioned the goalie fight but failed to mention his own list of exciting events in the Battle of Alberta.

Does anyone know if you can still leave an extra ticket for someone at the Guest Services counter before a game?

Interesting lines. Could see them working well. That's a $13.5 million 4th line!
