I'll have you know that I enjoy them both equally.

This is just the natural state of being a Flames fan, like the delusion associated with being an Oiler fan, the self-hating inferiority complex of being a Canucks or Senators fan, the unearned arrogance of being a Habs fan or the "certainty that you're the center of the universe while simultaneously knowing your team will fail you" attitude of being a Leafs fan.
Bitter, acrid hatred is just Calgary's own particular regional flavour of hockey fandom.

I'd much rather lose tonight and then beat the Capitals, Lightning, Red Wings, and Avalanche.
The Capitals, Lightning, and Avalanche are all much bigger tests for this team than the Oilers.

Is there a Caps is no good thread in here? A Lightning is no good thread? An Avs are no good thread?
Yeah. You can check yourself out if you can stomach a loss to the Oilers. Especially a piece of crap slumping Oilers team we should have beat by 5.

Beating rivals matters. Especially when they’re potential playoff opponents and another loss puts them in an even tougher position to climb back into the race.
Certainly not a must win for the Flames but it’s a statement game.

I really hope the Flames ramp the physicality up a few notches. I'd really like guys to start finishing their checks on McDrai, it will lead to sulking and whining. Gudbranson and Zadorov have the ability to revive the tunnel of doom, so please make it happen.
I can't see them taking it lightly either, which means Kane will likely get his teeth kicked in by one of our big 3, when he is the one that feels the need to respond.

I fully expect the Flames to crush the OIlers tonight, 5 - 1 or so. Very depleted Oiler team and a very confident Calgary squad.
Vladar playing good has got to give Markstrom some energy too. And I don't think he we thrilled with his play 2 games ago, so I expect some real serious goaltendering.

As others have already mentioned, I really want the Flames to lay a beatdown on these clowns this time, putting another nail in their coffin. Get a couple quick ones on Leako, contain McAvi and Pissy, and stay out of the penalty box. We've blown out much better teams than this, so I think with a full house atmosphere Sutter will have the boys focused to get the W.
Looking forward to seeing what Ruzicka can do with Eatbread and Toffoli, if Sutter does indeed go with that combo. After being scratched recently, I expect him to perform well...he's shown flashes of strong and creative play in earlier appearances.
Interesting in Sutter's presser he said that of the four guys on our team having big years points-wise, three of them have rounded out their games in terms of what it takes to win, more than just putting up points. So, that leaves one guy who hasn't in his mind...Mangy, I suppose?

I wonder how much negativity Smith has saturated that , already , “pissy” locker room with, over the past few days.

I wouldn’t say we enjoy Canuck/Oiler failures more than Flames’ success - it’s just that the Canuck and Oiler face-plants bring out an opportunity to exercise our collective sense of humour in addition to the satisfaction derived from the game outcomes.

Must win game, maybe not for the standings but I’ve just had enough of the Oilers and their fans.

I couldn't agree more. Her stories are usually good, but the way she asks questions is painful. Why can't she just write down her questions first and read them out? (especially for a pre-game scrum)

Yep. This is always Edmonton’s Stanley cup game seeing as the REAL one is completely out of reach.
The only thing they take more joy in is truck nuts.
