Yeah, and you know they're all going to hear about it (if they haven't already). Darryl specifically mentioned in his pre-game talk about this team's prior identity being a collection of players trying to collect points. Granted he's made that mention a few times, but he's smart enough to know that it was an important reminder before this specific game.

Tkachuk is a bad one for this. Cute passes. It's also how goal 4 started with Gaudreau trying an ill-advised pass from the off wing near the blue line instead of hanging on or at least going deep.

I'm still wondering about the shot by Johnny that hit the ref around the 7:30 mark of the first...with the ref giving JG the ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and JG giving (what looked like) a bit of a lippy response back...factored into the "somewhat unfavourable" call ratio. Were they penalties? Mmmm...some; pretty skeptical that a few would have been called otherwise.

Doesn't excuse the crappy play by the Flames...they looked ill-prepared and tired. If they're tired now...the next few weeks will not be too inspiring for fans.

Hope they smarten up, gear up and sharpen up for Saturday and beyond! And maybe not piss off the refs at the start of the game.

IIRC it was Pierre Lambert…. Hmmm French sounding name against the Habs. Just my opinion….

The Habs aren't a different team - they're going through a new coach bounce. Someone else mentioned that Sutter was trying to be the smartest guy in the room by starting Markstrom - when we're talking about hockey, he likely is. Excited for tomorrow's matchup against the Avs.

Some people say there’s no bounce, but I think it depends on the team and the circumstances of the change.

Flames are 4-6-2 vs Canada this season.

Going to keep track of that stat cause its annoying me and has seemingly carried over from last year.

Hopefully we can break .500 down the stretch against the north.

Yes and it's very annoying. Especially since most of these team suck

Positive note:
Flames were playing .400 hockey against Canadian teams prior to Habs game. They got 1 point which is .500 hockey!

Baby steps!

Exactly. The problem with running statistics on something like this is that they consider, and average, all circumstances.

Well yeah, we know there is always a new coach bounce, but that doesn't mean there isn't sometimes.

There actually should be an improvement in most cases just because players will either feel bad or relieved about the situation and/or try harder for the new guy. And then revert to whoever they are.

But then, that will be tempered by your opposition over the next few games. you could play better but be agains all top teams and not get the bounce wins. Or run into a hot goalie or two. Etc etc.
