Talking about Flames legacies, Bryon Ritchie's kid will be draft eligible and perhaps taken higher than the Iginla scion.
You can never have too many Ritchies.

Byron came from a different bloodline of Ritchies than the last two we had. Picking Ryder may just work out differently.

I just don't see Connie shafting a young Iginla while sitting at the table with Iginla.

Either the Oilers take him first, or Jarome tells Conroy to let him be drafted somewhere else. It’s one of those scenarios.

You're suggesting Iggy Sr. doesn't want Iggy Jr. to play for the Flames?

Mini Iggy got another goal and an assist tonight. 12gp/13g/8a/21pts,-3, 4 PIM. He's tied for 6th in WHL scoring.

Still love Calum Ritchie. He'll be great for the Avs in a few years.

Montreal has the option of taking our 2024 pick if it's between 20 and 32 (won't happen), otherwise they'll get one of our two 2025 firsts.
We've traded away our 5th and 7th for Flames legends Ryan Carpenter and Calle Jarnkrok. We have all our other picks.

we have 2 firsts in 2025 because of the Florida trade? which one would the Habs get ?

there are many different scenarios for this. If the Panthers pick is a lottery pick, we get their 2026 1st instead. In that case, the Habs get our 2025 1st (unless it's 1st overall, then they get our 2026 1st and an additional 3rd). If we do get the Panthers pick in 2025, then there are even more scenarios. If neither pick is top 10, the Habs get the better pick. If ours is top 10, they get the Panthers pick.

Most likely Florida's at this rate. Small chance they get the Flames 1st which can be as high as 2nd overall lol

This is entirely possible. Just the name would carry with it tremendous expectations, moreso here than anywhere else. It would be great if he turned out, but if his development is slower or he's not half the NHL player his dad was, could be a tough situation to be in in Calgary.

This should be copy paste material for this pick. Concise and short and exactly the path.
We are bigger Panther fans this season than Flames fans.

I think that this might just go the other way.
If Tij is drafted by the Flames all he will hear his whole career is comparisons to his dad. While there will be some of that just being in the league it will be no where near as bad as if he is in Calgary.
While I think it would be cool to draft him and have him play here from a purely fan point of view. I do think that for his growth as a player and a person he would be better off going to a different organization and learning how to be a professional hockey player. Out of the spotlight. Away from the over the top expectations. Not being expected to be the savior second coming.
Easier on Conroy and Iginla to make hockey decisions without having to worry about on player thats related.
Unless he is by far and away the best prospect available when they are picking I do not see them calling his name.

Or maybe he's like his dad and thrives in that type of pressure. Hard to say, but right now he likes a great prospect that we would be excited to add, regardless of his name

Such complexity. Can we just fast forward to at time when the pick is determined and drafted?
